Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours

Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.

Old Trafford to Remain Standing

Despite Manchester United exploring plans to build a new stadium, ESPN reports that their current stadium will not be demolished in the process.

As United are leaning towards building a brand new home ground with about 100,000 seats, one proposal concerning Old Trafford would see the stadium’s capacity reduced from 76,000 to about 30,000 and be used by the women’s and U21 teams.

Old Trafford has been Manchester United’s home since 1910.

EPL Transfers

Newcastle have completed the transfer of Sheffield United attacker Will Osula. The reported fee stands at £10 million, with a further £5 million stipulated in add-ons. (Newcastle official announcement)

Fulham centre-back and long-time servant Tim Ream has left the Cottagers to join MLS team Charlotte FC. He had initially joined Fulham in 2015. (Fulham official announcement)

Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist has joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan in the hope of more regular game time. (Chelsea official announcement)

Crystal Palace might bring back a club legend. The Daily Telegraph reports that Palace are eyeing a loan move for Wilfried Zaha, who left them last summer on a free transfer to join Galatasaray.

Liverpool are interested in making Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi the club’s first signing under new head coach Arne Slot. Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona are also long-time admirers of the player, but it seems like Zubimendi has his heart set on Anfield. His release clause stands at £51 million. (Sky Sports)

Amid interest from Chelsea in Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley to replace the imminently departing Conor Gallagher, FootballScotland tells us that Brighton are also ready to test the waters with a £25 million bid for the Dane.

David Ornstein tells us that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might be on his way back to the Premier League. Besiktas are planning a restructuring of their squad and wage bill, meaning that an amicable solution is sought now for one of their highest earners. The Turkish club is open to both a sale and a loan.

Samu Omorodion now has a medical booked ahead of a move to Chelsea, with Atletico Madrid set to receive £35 million for their attacker. His contract with the Stamford Bridge side will run for seven years. (Fabrizio Romano)

Denzel Dumfries is set to reject a new contract with Inter as he hopes to join Manchester United next summer. He has now entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Italian side, who are interested in United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Englishman also has a contract running until 2025, so a swap deal has also been discussed. (The Athletic)

Manchester United could well abandon their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt if Bayern Munich do not lower their asking price for the defender. (GIVEMESPORT)

But an exit from Manchester United might be on the cards if Al-Nassr follow through on their interest in winger Antony, according to a report from Football Insider.

Argentinian publication Doble Amarilla claims that Real Madrid are preparing a £43.1 million bid for Tottenham defender Cristian Romero.

And another player who might leave the Prem this summer is Mohamed Salah, if a report from Football Insider is correct. Liverpool are bracing themselves for a bid from the Saudi Pro League for their star winger and it is said that a £100 million offer “would be hard to turn down”, especially as Salah is now in the final year of his contract with the Reds.

Plenty of strikers could be on the move before the end of the transfer window. Corriere dello Sport says that Arsenal are, in fact, not interested in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, but are actually working towards bringing Sporting marksman Viktor Gyokeres to the Premier League. Furthermore, the Italian publication doubles down on the news of Napoli wanting to get Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, along with Blues’ goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga at the other end of the pitch. And another striker drumming up plenty of interest is Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who might end up at Manchester United, as per Football Insider.

As Manchester City are close to losing Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid, they are considering replacing him with Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze, according to Football Transfers.

And once more with The Athletic: Lucas Digne has turned down a move to Galatasaray in order to stay at Aston Villa and fight Ian Maatsen for game time.
