Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.

EPL Transfers

West Ham United are expecting Crysencio Summerville to sign his contract in the next 24 hours after landing the Dutchman for the 2024/25 season and beyond from Leeds United. The Hammers pulled a coup to sign Summerville despite Liverpool’s interest in the player. He has completed his medicals and only paperwork is left to make it official (Sky Sports).

The Hammers have also sealed moves for German striker Niclas Füllkrug from Borussia Dortmund (Florian Plettenberg) and Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez (Fabrizio Romano) who was once linked to Barcelona in their search for a defensive midfielder. According to Romano, Rodriguez’s medicals will happen on Saturday just before or around the time Summerville will be announced. There is no information on the date for Füllkrug’s medical but West Ham fans are assured of the striker’s addition to the squad.

Manchester United could finally have their man after Paris Saint-Germain officially signed young midfielder João Neves from Benfica. The French Giants signed the teenager to replace Manuel Ugarte, who is wanted by United. This has opened the path for the Red Devils to negotiate for the Uruguayan and reports have it that the French Ligue 1 club are more receptive to talks this time around (Evening Standard).

Meanwhile, news coming out of Chelsea is that the club is trying to force Conor Gallagher out (The Times). The Blues have accepted an offer from Atlético de Madrid but Gallagher is undecided about leaving England to play in Spain. He also continues to reject offers to renew his contract from the Blues, leading them to warn him of an impending training ground exile which could lead to a similar situation like the one Malang Sarr just got out of.

Atléti have also gone ahead to set a deadline for the completion of talks with Chelsea over Gallagher (Sky Sports). The Spanish LaLiga team wants the England Three Lions player but believe Chelsea are not forthcoming with their response over their inquiry. This is despite the reports of Gallagher’s reluctance to move countries and leagues. Atléti have marked the end of the weekend as their deadline for the talks with both the player and the club or they will move on to other targets.

Tottenham Hotspur fans may not like Ange Postecoglou’s latest comments about their club’s transfer strategy this summer. The club have only signed Archie Gray from Leeds United and are looking for a striker. However, the Australian has claimed that the club may not be able to get the player they want this summer and will have to make do with the team they have despite being linked to both Dominic Solanke and Ivan Toney (90 mins).

Arsenal and Manchester United could enter a transfer battle for Federico Chiesa (Goal). The Gunners first contacted the player’s agent (La Stampa). Juventus is reportedly willing to accept a £25 million fee for the forward. United, meanwhile, look to be ready to offer an even higher fee and are currently speaking with the player to come to terms with him in his contract details (Goal).

Arsenal are also holding off for a few of £30 million for Eddie Nketiah and have turned down Olympique de Marseille’s bid to sign the striker for £21 million. Roberto De Zerbi wants to sign the striker to replace the departed Ismaila Sarr (Daily Mail).

Liverpool could face a stumbling block in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon as Newcastle United are readying a larger bid for the young attacking midfielder (Daily Mail). It will mean another setback for the Reds, who have already lost Summerville to West Ham United and are yet to make any signings ahead of the 2024/25 season.
