Antony on the Verge of Real Betis Return
Manchester United winger Antony appears to be edging closer to an Old Trafford exit after spending the summer apart from Ruben Amorim’s squad.
The Brazilian impressed during his loan spell at Real Betis in the second half of last season and has been determined to secure a permanent return. Both Antony and Betis have shown strong interest in a reunion, though financial constraints had previously held up progress.
According to The Telegraph, a breakthrough has now been reached. Manchester United and the La Liga side have agreed in principle on a transfer, expected to be structured as a loan with an obligation to buy.
Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini recently commented: “We all know that he was very good here, we want him with us, and Antony wants to return no doubt.” The club have even left the No. 7 shirt vacant at the start of the season, a clear sign of their intent to bring him back.
Arsenal’s Heavy Spending and FFP Concerns
Arsenal have been among the most active Premier League clubs this summer, investing heavily to strengthen their squad after three successive second-place finishes.
The Gunners have brought in Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Nørgaard, Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyökeres, Cristhian Mosquera and Eberechi Eze on permanent transfers. They are also pushing to finalise a deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié, which could see their total summer spending surpass £300 million
Despite their investment, Arsenal have not made any major sales to balance the books. While they are not in immediate danger of breaching Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules, The Athletic warns they are “sailing ever closer to the wind on UEFA’s squad cost rule.”
To avoid issues, the club are attempting to offload surplus players such as Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Reiss Nelson. Additionally, Hale End academy products could also be sold or loaned out. Nineteen-year-old Maldini Kacurri, 21-year-old Charles Sagoe Jr., and 19-year-old Ismeal Kabia have all been identified as potential exits, given the lack of clear pathways to first-team football.
