EPL Transfer News: Ederson, West Ham, Sterling and More
Manchester City Aim to Keep Ederson Despite Interest
Manchester City are reportedly determined to retain Ederson for the 2025–26 season. The Brazilian goalkeeper, who previously resisted a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League in the summer of 2024, is now the subject of serious interest from Galatasaray. According to The Independent, the Turkish club are “confident in signing” the 31-year-old.
City’s desire to keep Ederson appears to align with the player’s own stance. Back in June, the Brazilian urged fans to dismiss “fake news” surrounding transfer speculation, signalling a preference to stay at the Etihad.
However, should Galatasaray table an irresistible offer for either Ederson or the club, Manchester City may turn their attention to a familiar name. ESPN reports that the club “would consider making a move” for 22-year-old James Trafford, a former academy product who joined Burnley in 2023. A buy-back option exists, making Trafford a realistic contingency plan.
João Félix Nearing Benfica Return in Cut-Price Deal
João Félix appears poised to leave Chelsea, with a return to his boyhood club Benfica on the horizon. Record, a Portuguese outlet, reports that Benfica are close to reaching an agreement with Chelsea to purchase 50% of the attacker’s rights for approximately £21.7 million. The deal could be completed by the end of the week.
Félix does not figure into new manager Enzo Maresca’s plans for the 2025–26 season. This was evident when Dario Essugo took his shirt number for the Club World Cup — a competition Chelsea entered without Félix, who had just completed a loan spell at AC Milan.
Earlier this summer, The Athletic revealed Chelsea’s initial asking price was £43.5 million, which deterred potential suitors. Despite that, Félix has publicly expressed a desire to return to Benfica and revive his career. Fabrizio Romano now reports that Las Águilas are actively working to finalise his comeback.
Nicolas Jackson Wants Manchester United Move
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is reportedly eager to join Manchester United, even with no European football on offer at Old Trafford this season. However, the Blues are unlikely to let him leave on the cheap, having placed a £100 million price tag on the forward, according to GIVEMESPORT.
