Premier League Transfer News: Zinchenko, Osimhen, Sancho and More
AC Milan Eye Zinchenko as Theo Hernández Replacement
With speculation growing around Theo Hernández’s potential return to Atlético Madrid this summer, AC Milan are reportedly lining up Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko as a possible replacement. The 28-year-old Ukrainian international has just one year remaining on his current contract with the Gunners, and Sky Italy reports that Milan are assessing the conditions required to complete the deal.
Zinchenko’s salary may pose a stumbling block, while it is also unclear whether Milan’s interest is contingent on Hernández leaving. While both are left-backs, the pair offer distinctly different profiles. Hernández is renowned for his marauding, attacking style, often surging forward to support offensive play, whereas Zinchenko has been deployed both in defence and midfield with a more tactical and composed approach.
Last season, Zinchenko saw limited game time at Arsenal following Riccardo Calafiori’s arrival and the breakthrough of Myles Lewis-Skelly. Zinchenko registered only 12 appearances at left-back, supplemented by six in midfield. Despite none of the three being traditional defensive stalwarts, Lewis-Skelly’s pace and ball retention skills have made him a favoured option, especially with Calafiori struggling with injuries.
Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven Baffled by Postecoglou Sacking
Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to part ways with manager Ange Postecoglou has raised eyebrows, including from within the dressing room. Centre-back Micky van de Ven publicly labelled the move as “strange,” particularly given the context surrounding the Australian’s departure.
Spurs clinched the Europa League title with a narrow 1–0 win over Manchester United, thanks to a scrappy first-half goal by Brennan Johnson. The victory ended the club’s 17-year trophy drought and provided a rare moment of glory. Yet, domestically, the campaign was dismal. Tottenham finished 17th in the Premier League, accruing a mere 38 points—their worst showing in the modern era.
Speaking during the Netherlands’ 8–0 demolition of Malta in the June international break, Van de Ven offered his perspective on the controversial decision.
“That was ultimately a choice from the club,” he explained. “We, as players, have little to say about that. Of course, he is the first coach in a long time who has won a prize and has had success at Spurs. So if you look at it that way, it is of course a strange choice.”
Van de Ven further emphasised Postecoglou’s impact: “I think a lot of players were good with him. And of course, what I say, he is the first coach who has brought success to Spurs in a long time. That also shows that he has a certain quality. That also means that he has a winning mentality. 100%.”
Manchester United Reignite Interest in Victor Osimhen
Manchester United have reopened talks with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as they look to bolster their attacking options, according to Foot Mercato. While still monitoring Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, the Red Devils are once again focused on the Nigerian international.
Osimhen is reportedly available for £63.9 million, a fee United may be willing to pay as they aim to revitalise their frontline.
João Pedro Wants Out of Brighton – Eyes Set on London Move
Brighton & Hove Albion’s defender Igor revealed in an interview with Trivela that striker João Pedro has expressed a desire to leave the club. Pedro is said to prefer a move to London, ideally joining either Arsenal or Chelsea over Liverpool.
The striker’s aspirations are now likely to influence Brighton’s summer plans, especially if a suitable offer is presented.
Liverpool Renew Pursuit of Anthony Gordon
Liverpool remain determined to bring Anthony Gordon to Anfield, but Newcastle United are reportedly holding firm on their valuation. According to Football Insider, it would take a bid of no less than £75 million to prise the England winger away from St James’ Park.
Gordon’s standout performances last season have made him a hot commodity, and the Magpies are in no rush to sell one of their brightest stars.
Jadon Sancho Attracting Premier League Interest After Chelsea Loan
After completing a loan stint at Chelsea, Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho is now on the radar of several Premier League clubs. Per TodoFichajes, Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to secure the winger’s services, while Tottenham Hotspur are also interested.
Sancho’s career has stalled at Old Trafford, and a move could provide the fresh start he needs to reignite his potential.
Jhon Durán Plots Premier League Return
Former Aston Villa forward Jhon Durán is reportedly eager to exit Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr and return to English football. TEAMtalk reports that Fulham, West Ham United and Wolves have all shown interest in the Colombian international.
Durán’s ambition to compete again in the Premier League could result in a bidding war during the window.
Arsenal Push Forward in Šeško Talks with RB Leipzig
Arsenal have made significant progress in negotiations with RB Leipzig over highly-rated striker Benjamin Šeško. FootballTransfers reports that discussions regarding the structure of a deal are nearing completion, with a £85.2 million offer on the cards.
The Gunners are looking to add a prolific forward to Mikel Arteta’s squad, and Šeško could be the marquee addition they need for a serious title challenge.
Chelsea Enter Race for Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade
Chelsea have approached towering Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, according to a report by BILD. The 23-year-old German forward has caught the attention of both Chelsea and Atlético Madrid following an impressive season.
Woltemade’s aerial presence and physicality could offer Chelsea a different dimension up front as they seek reinforcements in attack.
Real Betis Consider Federico Chiesa as Antony Alternative
Real Betis are reportedly eager to bring Manchester United winger Antony back to the club following his resurgence during a recent loan spell. However, if a deal for Antony falls through, the Spanish side have identified Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa as an alternative.
According to TodoFichajes, Chiesa is open to the switch, particularly after witnessing how Antony’s move helped revitalise his career at Betis.
