Matchday 8 Awards
Although still so early in the season, it feels like a lot of the results we have seen unfold over the weekend will have a significant impact on the rest of the Premier League campaign.
Arsenal and Manchester City both managed to win, with Mikel Arteta’s team distancing themselves a little bit from the chasing pack thanks to Liverpool’s shock loss to Manchester United and the draw between Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
Sunderland are continuing their great start to the season, Newcastle are still blowing hot and cold, while Aston Villa managed a comeback win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

베스트 플레이어
Jean-Philippe Mateta is one of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League and perhaps even beyond English shores. He certainly reminded everyone of just how good he is with a hat-trick against Bournemouth on Saturday in a fantastic game.
He could (and perhaps should) have even won the game for Glasner’s side deep in injury time, when he missed an absolute sitter, but that won’t deny him our Best Player award.

Yes, Nick Woltemade’s backheel against Brighton was great, just like both of Aston Villa’s goals against Tottenham, but the Best Goal award goes to Burnley’s Loum Tchaouna and his wonderful strike against Leeds.
It was a win that Burnley desperately needed against a fellow newly-promoted side and it was the 22-year-old Frenchman who sealed it for them with this goal:

최고의 게임
Not only the most spectacular match of the round, but a legitimate contender for the best game of the season. Crystal Palace and Bournemouth served up a thrilling encounter that finished 3-3, with comebacks, VAR drama, late goals and huge misses.
We can only hope we see as many fixtures like this as possible every week.

Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Nottingham Forest just 39 days after his appointment, making this the shortest reign of a permanent manager in Premier League history.
Erling Haaland is the first player to hit double figures for Premier League goals after just eight matchdays of the season. But he has done this FOR THE THIRD TIME!
Liverpool vs Manchester United gave us some interesting stats too. Bryan Mbeumo’s opener was the quickest goal of the season so far, going in just 62 seconds after kick-off.
United have also, for the first time in 117 years, won away at the defending champions in back-to-back seasons, against Manchester City last campaign and Liverpool on Sunday.
최고/최악의 VAR 판정
No huge complaints despite some controversies, like Alexis Mac Allister going down with a head injury that went unnoticed by Michael Oliver in the build-up to United’s opener, Arsenal’s overturned penalty against Fulham or Marcos Senesi only getting a yellow card for a foul that could have been interpreted as a denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity.
But once again lengthy delays rear their ugly head, with some decisions taking three or four minutes to make. We will say this again: if you need that long, then it’s probably not a “clear and obvious error.”
최고의 대체품
Yes, this award could also go to Tchaouna, but let’s spread the applause a little bit. We’re giving the Best Sub distinction to Brentford’s Mathias Jensen, who came on in the 90th minute of last night’s game against West Ham and scored four minutes later to seal the three points for the Bees.
가장 재미있는 순간
A player receiving a hand-written note from his coach mid-match is not something too out of the ordinary.
But with the score at 2-0 for Chelsea already in their Saturday lunchtime kick-off away to Nottingham Forest, the commentators had us in stitches when they were wondering if it might be an order for fish and chips for the trip home and wanting the players to write down what they would like.
