Matchday 6 Awards
The Premier League season is now six matchdays old and we are down to one unbeaten team after Crystal Palace served Liverpool with a taste of their own medicine: a late injury time goal to make it a home win for the Selhurst Park side.
Arsenal seized their opportunity with a comeback win against Newcastle to narrow the gap at the top. Meanwhile, Chelsea were at the wrong end of a comeback after being reduced to 10 men, giving Brighton the fuel needed to come away from Stamford Bridge with a 3-1 win.
Manchester City dismantled Burnley, Man United once again failed to make it two consecutive wins (what else is new?), while new Hammers boss Nuno Espirito Santo secured a point for his side in last night’s away game to Everton.

베스트 플레이어
While not against the greatest of opponents (sorry, Burnley), Erling Haaland scored two late goals after providing an assist earlier on to secure our Best Player award.
The 2025/26 season is his fourth in Man City colours, but he has already found the net 133 times in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s team, which gets him up to eighth place in the club’s all-time list of goalscorers. A modern great.

So many to choose from this weekend… We were blessed with five or six legitimate contenders, but we can only award our Best Goal distinction to one of them.
And that is Joao Palhinha’s lovely, controlled effort to earn Tottenham a point against Wolves. It was the sort of goal that is so satisfying to watch, a caress of the ball more than a shot, nestling right into the corner of the goal and leaving Sam Johnstone with no chance despite his best efforts.

Just as one of our editors predicted, Leeds vs Bournemouth ended up being a hugely entertaining affair.
It wasn’t all about the four goals scored, but we saw a total of 13 shots on target, 2.66 total xG, four big chances, score reversals, late drama and, in general, two sides very much up for the challenge of sealing the three points.
Properly entertaining stuff!

최고의 통계
This is the second time in Premier League history that Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all lost on the same day. Before this past Saturday, it happened on April 16, 1994, when Chelsea lost to Arsenal, Liverpool were overpowered by Newcastle and Man United slumped to a defeat against Wimbledon.
According to Opta, Burnley’s Maxime Esteve is now the sixth player to score a brace of own goals in a Premier League game.
Lastly, Sunderland now stand on 11 Premier League points. This is only one fewer than Manchester United since the start of April 2025, when only one of these sides was playing in the top division.
최고/최악의 VAR 판정
We’re not exactly fans of the amount of time it sometimes takes for the referees to make up their minds when viewing VAR footage.
If you need a full minute or more to decide something like overturning Arsenal’s penalty against Newcastle, then perhaps it wasn’t a “clear and obvious error” and VAR should lay off.

Danny Welbeck came off the bench in the 67th minute of Brighton’s away game against Chelsea with the score at 1-1.
He went on to score not once, but twice, giving the Seagulls a well-deserved win against Enzo Maresca’s men.
가장 재미있는 순간
Riccardo Calafiori was preparing for a long throw into Newcastle’s box by grabbing Nick Pope’s towel to wipe the ball. Who does that?!
The Magpies’ goalie was probably grateful that the referee was having none of Calafiori’s nonsense.
