EPL Transfer News: Mbeumo, Grealish, Arsenal and More
Mbeumo Joins Manchester United in Big-Money Transfer
Manchester United have successfully completed a deal to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, according to confirmed reports. The Red Devils initially failed with offers of £55 million and £62.5 million, but a breakthrough came on Thursday when they met Brentford’s full valuation.
As reported by The Athletic, United and Brentford agreed on a deal comprising an initial £65 million, with an additional £6 million in add-ons. The total transfer fee now stands at an eye-watering £71 million.
Personal terms had already been finalised weeks earlier. The Cameroon international, who was a target for Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur, made it clear he only wanted to join Manchester United, prompting other suitors to back away.
Mbeumo will undergo a medical before officially becoming the second senior signing under manager Ruben Amorim, following the arrival of Matheus Cunha.
Manchester City Set for Major Departures
Manchester City have confirmed the departure of Maximo Perrone, who has joined Cesc Fàbregas’s Como in a permanent deal. The Argentine, signed from Vélez Sarsfield in 2023 for around £8 million, leaves for a sum that could reach £13 million.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish’s future at the Etihad Stadium is under serious doubt. Reports indicate that the England international is now considered surplus to requirements by Pep Guardiola. Grealish was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup and fell out of favour towards the latter stages of the 2024–25 season.
West Ham United and Everton have expressed interest in loan deals, while a speculative link with Napoli has also surfaced, where Grealish could reunite with Kevin De Bruyne. Manchester City, however, are prioritising a permanent sale and have slashed his valuation to £40 million—a significant drop from the £100 million they paid four years ago, which would result in a record-breaking financial loss.
