Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas and Gyökeres were previously at odds over the transfer terms. The Swedish striker believed that a prior agreement existed allowing a summer move for £52 million plus £8.6 million in performance-related clauses.

However, David Ornstein reports that Arsenal’s latest offer has exceeded the previously discussed figure, prompting confidence that a deal will be finalised imminently.
