EPL Transfer News: Ederson to Turkey, Isak Saga, Jackson to Villa and More
Galatasaray Launch Bid for Manchester City’s Ederson
Galatasaray have reportedly submitted an official bid to sign Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson. The Brazilian dismissed speculation about his future during the Club World Cup, but he is now thought to be considering an exit from the Etihad Stadium. With James Trafford already on board to increase competition, Ederson’s position has come under further scrutiny.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Galatasaray’s proposal was worth £8.6 million. Although the offer is below Manchester City’s valuation, negotiations are ongoing. Should Ederson depart, the move would clear the way for Pep Guardiola’s side to pursue Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italian goalkeeper has been sidelined at PSG due to his expiring contract and is widely expected to head to the Premier League. Reports indicate City’s interest is stronger than that of Chelsea or Manchester United, both of whom have also been linked with Donnarumma.
Eddie Howe Calls for Resolution in Alexander Isak Saga
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has publicly urged for a swift resolution to the ongoing transfer drama involving Alexander Isak. The Sweden international was left out of the Magpies’ pre-season tour of Asia, sparking continuous speculation over his future.
Liverpool are monitoring developments closely, with a second formal bid reportedly being prepared for the 25-year-old. Rumours suggest Isak has already made it clear he does not intend to play for Newcastle again.
Following Newcastle’s 0–0 draw away to Aston Villa, Howe’s post-match press conference was dominated by questions surrounding the absent striker. Clearly frustrated, Howe admitted:
“I hope it’s resolved quickly, because it’s news around us all the time. Players have managed to shut that out and perform. We have to continue to do that. We would like a resolution. When I say we, I’m talking about myself and I’m sure the ownership, everyone really, the players that we have, because I think we need that clarity this season.
“Any Premier League season can be hard enough. You don’t need any kind of distraction to swerve your thoughts, to unbalance what we’re doing. But I’m certainly not in control of that. And I think there’s only one person [Isak] really that could control that.
“Nothing’s changed, the door is well and truly open. But he has to decide what he wants to do. I mean, that’s the quickest way. But of course, Alex is in control of what he does. I’m not in control of him.”
