EPL Transfer News: Nunez, Jackson, Arsenal and More
Darwin Núñez Set for Al Hilal Move
Liverpool and Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez. According to sources including The Athletic and Sky Sports, although the deal is in place between the clubs, Núñez’s transfer may not be finalised before Liverpool’s next fixture.
Núñez had previously attracted interest from European clubs, with Atlético Madrid and AC Milan both linked in recent months. However, Saudi Arabia’s growing football ambitions appear to have tipped the balance, with Al Hilal making the 26-year-old their “priority target” following Neymar Jr.’s departure six months ago.
The deal is expected to start at £46.1 million, with performance-based add-ons potentially pushing it to £56.6 million. While personal terms are yet to be agreed, Al Hilal’s manager Simone Inzaghi is believed to be advocating strongly for Núñez’s signing.
Despite ongoing negotiations, Sky Sports report that Núñez is expected to feature in Sunday’s Community Shield against Crystal Palace. He has maintained focus throughout pre-season, netting five goals in four friendly matches. If completed, Núñez’s contract is anticipated to surpass Mohamed Salah’s, reportedly reaching £18.7 million per season, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Everton in Talks Over Jack Grealish Loan
Manchester City and Everton have opened discussions regarding a potential loan move for Jack Grealish. The Athletic claims that while the Toffees are interested in a deal, negotiations are expected to be complex.
One of the primary hurdles is Grealish’s substantial wage, estimated at £300,000 per week—a sum that Everton cannot afford. To facilitate a move, the England international would likely need to accept a wage reduction.
Having fallen out of favour at City, Grealish missed out on England’s Euro 2024 squad and only logged 1,521 minutes in all competitions during the 2024–25 season, the equivalent of just 17 full matches. Everton’s recent resurgence under David Moyes may offer the winger a platform for regular football once again.
Nicolas Jackson a Target for Newcastle United
Newcastle United are reported to be eyeing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as a “serious target” in their search for a supporting striker to play alongside Alexander Isak. Their interest comes after missing out on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, who is expected to join Manchester United in a deal worth around £65 million.
According to The Telegraph, Jackson—previously linked with United and seen by many clubs as a solid if unspectacular option—is now firmly on Newcastle’s radar. Despite Liverpool maintaining interest in Isak, the Tyneside club appear focused on strengthening depth rather than replacing their current No. 9.
Chelsea initially valued Jackson between £80–100 million, but a more realistic fee would likely be around £60 million, similar to what the club paid for Pedro from Brighton. Even so, this would represent a sizeable profit on a player acquired for just over half that sum two years ago.
Manchester United Reject Five Harry Maguire Approaches
Manchester United have turned down five enquiries for Harry Maguire this summer, Daily Mail reports. Interest has come from three Premier League clubs and two Serie A sides, all of whom have been informed that United intend to keep the 32-year-old defender.
Maguire is entering the final year of his contract and is believed to want to stay at Old Trafford. His aspiration reportedly includes following in the footsteps of club legends Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister, both of whom were pivotal in United’s early Premier League success.
Despite this commitment, no contract renewal talks are said to have begun. Whether United should actually renew his contract is another discussion entirely.
Rodrygo Offered to Arsenal by Real Madrid
In an audacious move, DefensaCentral reports that Real Madrid are willing to offer Brazilian winger Rodrygo to Arsenal in a straight swap deal for William Saliba. The Gunners have remained firm on their stance, but such a high-profile player-for-player exchange could force a rethink.
Rodrygo continues to attract wide-ranging interest. Ben Jacobs claims that while Chelsea are still monitoring the winger, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are currently more aggressive in their pursuit.
Tottenham Eye Manchester City’s Savinho
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a surprise move for Manchester City forward Savinho. According to GIVEMESPORT, Spurs are keen to add flair and dynamism to their attack, with Savinho identified as a potential addition.
Christian Eriksen Linked with Burnley Switch
Recently released Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is attracting interest from newly promoted Burnley. Daily Mail reports that the Clarets see the experienced Danish international as an ideal fit for their midfield as they look to establish themselves back in the Premier League.
Arsenal Set to Offer Jakub Kiwior New Deal
Arsenal appear to have shifted gears in their squad planning, with TBR Football reporting that defender Jakub Kiwior is in line for a new contract. The Polish international has impressed in recent months, prompting the Gunners to secure his long-term future.
Manchester United Chase Pietro Comuzzo
Having secured the imminent signing of Benjamin Šeško, Manchester United are turning their attention to Fiorentina’s Pietro Comuzzo. Nicolò Schira claims that the young defender is next on United’s priority list as the club looks to bolster its back line with promising talent.
Yoanne Wissa Keen on Summer Exit
Brentford forward Yoanne Wissa is back in training but still pushing for a move away this summer. BBC Sport reports that Newcastle United remain interested, seeing the Congolese international as a valuable addition to their attacking options.
West Ham Compete for Idrissa Gueye
