Premier League Transfers: Who Is ‘Winning the Window’ So Far
Although the summer transfer window is still in its early stages, clubs have wasted no time in conducting business. Many are offloading players surplus to requirements while bringing in new signings who could potentially elevate their squads.
With the Premier League’s return now only a month away, أخبار الدوري الإنجليزي assesses which clubs have enjoyed the strongest transfer window so far.
ليفربول
Arrivals: Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer Leverkusen), Armin Pecsi (Puskas Akademia), Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen), Milos Kerkez (AFC Bournemouth), Freddie Woodman (Preston North End)
Departures: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Real Madrid), Caoimhin Kelleher (Brentford), Nat Phillips (West Brom), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen)
Fresh from winning the Premier League title, Liverpool have already reportedly spent nearly £200 million by early July – a staggering figure that will undoubtedly concern their rivals.
Under head coach Arne Slot, who was notably quiet in his first transfer window, the Reds have reinforced all over the pitch. Florian Wirtz stands out as the marquee signing, expected to make a significant impact in attack.
The full-back positions are likely to undergo a transformation. Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid is a blow, but the arrival of attacking right-back Frimpong is a promising replacement. On the opposite flank, Kerkez – formerly of Bournemouth – will aim to make the position his own.
Goalkeeper Mamardashvili’s arrival had been agreed long ago, and he will provide strong competition for Alisson. Quansah’s departure, though disappointing as an academy product, brought in a decent reported fee.
There is still work to be done, especially in securing a leading striker, but Liverpool fans should be highly satisfied with their summer dealings so far.
تشيلسي
Arrivals: Liam Delap (Ipswich), Estevao Willian (Palmeiras), Dario Essugo (Sporting), Kendry Paez (Independiente), Mamadou Sarr (Strasbourg), Joao Pedro (Brighton), Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund)
Departures: Bashir Humphreys (Burnley), Marcus Bettinelli (Manchester City), Kepa Arrizabalaga (Arsenal), Lucas Bergstrom (released)
Chelsea continue their trend of collecting elite young talent, particularly in attacking areas. With several standout signings already completed, Enzo Maresca will face the welcome challenge of integrating them into the squad.
Joao Pedro has already impressed in the Premier League, while Delap enjoyed an excellent 2024/25 despite Ipswich’s relegation. Gittens arrives with high expectations, while Estevao is regarded as one of Brazil’s brightest young stars.
Though Sarr and Essugo may have to wait for regular minutes, their additions signal Chelsea’s long-term vision. The Blues appear to be planning ahead, ensuring squad depth in all positions.
Even if Noni Madueke departs, fans can take confidence from the calibre of players arriving this window.
Sunderland
Arrivals: Enzo Le Fee (Roma), Habib Diarra (Strasbourg), Noah Sadiki (Royale Union Saint-Gilloise), Reinildo (Atletico Madrid), Chemsdine Talbi (Club Brugge), Simon Adingra (Brighton)
Departures: Tom Watson (Brighton), Jobe Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Nathan Bishop (AFC Wimbledon)
Sunderland’s transfer window began with unfortunate exits. Jobe Bellingham’s move to Borussia Dortmund was driven by a substantial reported fee, while Watson also departed early for Brighton.
Manager Regis Le Bris swiftly ensured Le Fee remained, a key figure during last season’s promotion campaign. The Black Cats then broke their transfer record to sign Diarra from Strasbourg, who will be expected to fill Bellingham’s midfield void.
Sadiki brings versatility, while wide options have been bolstered by Adingra and Talbi. Reinildo, arriving from Atletico Madrid, strengthens the defence – reportedly on a free transfer.
Sunderland’s approach has been aggressive and ambitious, clearly intent on consolidating in the top flight.
أرسنال
Arrivals: Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea), Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad), Christian Norgaard (Brentford)
Departures: Kieran Tierney (Celtic), Jorginho (Flamengo), Nuno Tavares (Lazio), Marquinhos (Cruzeiro), Nathan Butler-Oyedeji (Lausanne), Thomas Partey (released), Takehiro Tomiyasu (released)
Arsenal, having finished as Premier League runners-up for three successive seasons, appear to be refining rather than overhauling.
The exits of Jorginho and Partey required midfield reinforcements, with long-term target Zubimendi coming in to anchor play. Norgaard is another smart addition to bolster depth.
Kepa joins as a capable and cost-effective backup keeper, while a move for Madueke has split opinion. However, many believe the Chelsea winger could thrive in a more consistent tactical setup.
All eyes now turn to Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker, with Viktor Gyokeres still heavily linked.
بيرنلي
Arrivals: Marcus Edwards (Sporting), Jaidon Anthony (AFC Bournemouth), Bashir Humphreys (Chelsea), Zian Flemming (Millwall), Max Weiss (Karlsruhe), Quilindschy Hartman (Feyenoord), Axel Tuanzebe (Ipswich), Loum Tchaouna (Lazio), Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
Departures: CJ Egan-Riley (Marseille), Josh Brownhill, Jonjo Shelvey, Nathan Redmond (all released), Dara Costelloe (Wigan)
Burnley’s الصعود إلى الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز was built on a solid defensive foundation, and they’ve wisely focused on defensive reinforcements this summer.
With Egan-Riley departing and James Trafford potentially leaving, the Clarets added Humphreys, Weiss, Hartman, Tuanzebe, and Walker – a comprehensive defensive overhaul.
Attacking options were also addressed. Edwards, who impressed at Turf Moor late last season, returns permanently, and Tchaouna arrives from Lazio as a promising young addition.
This feels like smart recruitment for a newly promoted side aiming to stay up.
مانشستر سيتي
Arrivals: Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves), Rayan Cherki (Lyon), Marcus Bettinelli (Chelsea), Tijani Reijnders (AC Milan)
Departures: Kevin De Bruyne (Napoli), Yan Couto (Borussia Dortmund), Jacob Wright (Norwich City), Scott Carson (released), Kayky (FC Bahia), Kyle Walker (Burnley)
After falling short in the title race, Manchester City have acted decisively in the market.
The surprise departure of De Bruyne signals a changing of the guard, with Guardiola aiming to evolve the squad.
Reijnders adds box-to-box dynamism, complementing Rodri in midfield. Cherki, one of Europe’s most exciting young prospects, boosts City’s creative options.
Ait-Nouri, who impressed at Wolves, could prove an inspired addition at left-back. Meanwhile, City reportedly secured a respectable fee for Couto, who never featured for the senior team.
توتنهام هوتسبير
Arrivals: Kevin Danso (Lens), Luka Vuskovic (Westerlo), Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich), Kota Takai (Kawasaki Frontale), Mohammed Kudus (West Ham)
Departures: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (Marseille), Sergio Reguilon, Fraser Forster, Alfie Whiteman (all released), Jaden Williams (Colchester)
Tottenham Hotspur’s window began by making the loans of Danso and Tel permanent – both seen as strong long-term investments.
Kudus is the standout signing, arriving from West Ham with immense potential. Though he endured a tougher second campaign, his first-season form showed his true ability.
Spurs are also reportedly keen on Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, a deal that, if completed, would elevate their transfer success.
برايتون آند هوف ألبيون
Arrivals: Tom Watson (Sunderland), Do-young Yun (Daejeon Hana Citizen), Charalampos Kostoulas (Olympiacos), Diego Coppola (Hellas Verona), Olivier Boscagli (PSV Eindhoven), Maxim De Cuyper (Club Brugge)
Departures: Killian Cahill (Leyton Orient), Joao Pedro (Chelsea), Valentin Barco (Strasbourg), Odeluga Offiah (Preston), Simon Adingra (Sunderland)
Despite selling Joao Pedro, Brighton continue to operate smartly in the market. Their knack for replacing stars with emerging talent remains unmatched.
The funds received for Pedro have been reinvested, with a clear focus on youthful, high-potential players. Kostoulas is highly rated in Greece, while defenders Coppola and De Cuyper add experience.
Watson, scorer of Sunderland’s promotion-clinching goal, also joins the Seagulls.
The Rest of the League
Manchester United fans are calling for major change after a disappointing campaign. So far, only Wolves’ Matheus Cunha has arrived, though Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo remains a reported target.
At Brentford, departures of manager Thomas Frank, captain Christian Norgaard, and possibly Yoane Wissa signal a tough summer.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United’s acquisition of Anthony Elanga – reuniting him with fellow Swede Alexander Isak – looks shrewd.
Crystal Palace are hoping to retain key players Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi, while Aston Villa, Fulham, Everton and West Ham have yet to make significant moves.
