EPL Transfers
Another day, another confirmed transfer for Brighton. This time it’s EURO 2024 star Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce. He joins on a four-year deal after the Seagulls paid a reported £25.4 million for his services. (Brighton official announcement)
Another finalised move is that of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino to Arsenal in a transfer understood to be worth £31.6 million. He joins on a long-term contract of undisclosed length, as the Gunners’ policy is to not make this information public for new signings. (Arsenal official announcement)
Liverpool have agreed to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili on a permanent transfer for a reported £25 million plus £4 million in add-ons. However, the Georgian goalie will not be joining the Reds just yet, as he will stay on loan with Valencia for the rest of the season. (Liverpool official announcement)
Manchester City have confirmed the permanent transfer of Joao Cancelo, who has now joined Al Hilal on a three-year contract. City received around £21 million for their player. (Manchester City official announcement)
Speculation is rampant that a swap deal is on the horizon involving Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho and Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling, with both players frozen out by their respective clubs. Sterling’s £300,000-per-week wages might pose a problem, but the report from The Telegraph mentions that the Blues are expected to pay part of his salary at any club he joins before the deadline.
While on the subject of Chelsea, 90min tells us that the Stamford Bridge club are trying to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney, as long as the transfer fee and wage demands are “reasonable”. There is a big offer for Toney from Al-Ahli, but Chelsea are hoping that the lure of staying in the Premier League will be enough to convince the player despite lower proposed wages.
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin might be on the move before Friday’s deadline, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle all interested. (Football Insider)
talkSPORT reports that while discussions with Chelsea are ongoing, Manchester United are also talking to Juventus about Jadon Sancho’s transfer. German sides Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the winger.
Despite so many senior players in their squad, almost every rumour today seems to involve Chelsea. Their interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is not new, but if they fail to sign him or Ivan Toney, the Blues intend to go in with another offer for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, according to GIVEMESPORT.
Atletico Madrid might be the team to offer Matheus Nunes an exit strategy from Manchester City, as Diego Simeone strongly feels that his squad needs one more midfielder this summer. (Football Insider)
After their move for Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow fell through, Southampton are now in talks with Arsenal about a move for Aaron Ramsdale, according to a report from TBR Football.
Lastly, talkSPORT claims that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is willing to reduce his wages to leave Besiktas and come back to the EPL. There have been conversations with Brentford and Crystal Palace so far.
