25-year-old defender Dara O’Shea has joined Ipswich from Burnley, agreeing to a five-year contract with the Tractor Boys. We understand that the transfer fee is around £12 million, with another £3 million in potential add-ons. He is now Ipswich’s 11th incoming player this summer. (Ipswich official announcement)
The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool are getting closer and closer to finally sealing a deal for Valencia goalie Giorgi Mamardashvili. The plan is to still send him out on loan, either to Bournemouth or with Valencia.
Manchester City are considering their options for back-up striker, now that Julian Alvarez has left for Spain. Their search includes intensive scouting of 19-year-old Icelandic striker Orri Oskarsson from FC Copenhagen. (The Athletic)
According to Sky Sports, Napoli have agreed a £25.4 million deal with Manchester United for Scott McTominay, which would open the door for the Red Devils to bring in Manuel Ugarte from PSG after a protracted transfer saga.
The Athletic tells us that Nottingham Forest’s move for Eddie Nketiah is reportedly off, as Forest could not come to an agreement on personal terms with the Arsenal striker. The clubs had reached an understanding on a £30 million transfer package, but the switch has now fallen through. On a related note, Fabrizio Romano says that Forest will pursue Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez instead, and that a bid of £28 million (including add-ons) has already been submitted. This would make Gimenez the most expensive player ever sold by the Dutch club.
From various Sky Sports outlets we learn that Manchester United and Chelsea could make a swap deal. Jadon Sancho’s time at Old Trafford seems to be at an end, with the club wanting to sell him, but they would still consider loaning him out again. However, Chelsea are considering offering either Ben Chilwell or Raheem Sterling as makeweights in a deal for Sancho.
There is still plenty of interest in Lille striker Jonathan David, with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool and Napoli all monitoring the situation. The French club value the player at £45 million. (CaughtOffside)
