The Premier League 2024/25 season might have kicked off but transfer activity is still in full swing. Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.
EPL Transfers
Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a seven-year contract. The transfer fee paid by the Blues is believed to be around £46.3 million. He had played at Stamford Bridge on loan in the 2022/23 season. (Chelsea official announcement)
Sealing the deal for Felix meant that Conor Gallagher was finally allowed to complete his move to Atletico Madrid after a protracted transfer saga that saw him travel to the Spanish capital twice. The Chelsea academy product cost Atletico a reported £36 million. (Chelsea official announcement)
Aston Villa have announced that Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has signed a contract extension, committing to the Villans until 2029. He had initially joined the club back in 2020. (Aston Villa official announcement)
West Ham have signed 18-year-old midfielder Mohamadou Kante from French second division club Paris FC. He will stay with the Parisian club on loan for this season as part of the deal. (West Ham official announcement)
When a team has close to four dozen senior players on the books, they are bound to be in the news a lot. According to The Times, Chelsea have forced Raheem Sterling to train at home since Friday and have now also given his number 7 shirt to new signing Pedro Neto in a more decisive gesture to push the Englishman out of the club.
After missing out on Nico Williams, Barcelona are eyeing a deal for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as per a report in the Daily Express. However, a deal is not expected to go through this month, but rather next summer.
Fabrizio Romano says that Al-Hilal have made a formal bid for Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo.
Nottingham Forest are understood to be on the verge of agreeing a fee with Arsenal for the services of Eddie Nketiah. The Athletic tells us that an offer of £25 million was recently rejected, but talks are progressing in a positive manner, as the Gunners are hoping to receive £30-35 million for their player.
Another player close to an exit is Liverpool centre-back Sepp van den Berg, as Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen are both keen on signing him. Liverpool want £20 million in exchange for the Dutch defender and are understood to be firm about that amount. (90min)

Diario Expreso claims that Liverpool are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Piero Hincapie. The price tag is understood to be £42.5 million and there is plenty of interest from Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Tottenham in his services.

From Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla we learn that Ademola Lookman is on the radars of Arsenal and Liverpool as he nears the Atalanta exit door. The Gunners are prepared to make a player-plus-cash offer of £42.5 million and Jakub Kiwior, but the Italian team are looking for a fee closer to £60 million.
Newcastle are said to be interested in Olympiacos midfielder Santiago Hezze, according to journalist Gaston Edul.
Aston Villa might make a move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, who is reportedly open to leaving the Eagles. (Express)
