City Trial Dates
Details about Manchester City’s trial for their 115 charges have now come to light, with hearings set to begin in mid-to-late September and expected to run for 10 weeks, while the commission members’ verdict will likely come at the beginning of next year.
City could be fined, docked points or, if the most serious charges are proven, even relegated from the Premier League.
EPL Transfers
While still waiting to make their first signing of the summer, Liverpool have sold Fabio Carvalho to Brentford for a reported £27.5 million. The diminutive Portuguese midfielder has signed a five-year contract with the Bees. (Brentford official announcement)
Leicester City have confirmed the arrival of Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan from Brighton. (Leicester official announcement)
Manchester City have parted ways with Julian Alvarez, confirming his permanent transfer to Atletico Madrid. The transfer fee is understood to be an initial £64.4 million, with a further £17.1 million in potential add-ons. His contract with the Spanish capital club will run for six years. Tottenham have confirmed the sale of right-back Emerson Royal to AC Milan. The 25-year-old has signed a four-year contract (plus an option for an extra year) with the Italian club and the reported transfer fee stands at £12.8 million, with a further £2.5 million in add-ons. Sky Sports tells us that Martin Zubimendi has rejected the chance to join Liverpool this summer, opting to continue with Real Sociedad instead. He was widely expected to leave the Spanish club this summer, but has now opted to continue at the Anoeta. The Athletic follows up by claiming that Liverpool are unlikely to try to bring in another defensive midfielder to Anfield this summer.
Football Insider says that Arsenal are making the transfer of Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino their top priority for the remainder of the transfer window, but they might make a move for a top striker as well.
Portuguese publication Record reports that Atletico Madrid have rejected an initial £29.8 million offer from Chelsea for Joao Felix.
Bruno Fernandes is set to sign a new contract with Manchester United, which will see him extend his stay at Old Trafford until 2027, according to Sky Sports.
Spanish publication El Nacional reports that Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso might be on the move this summer. The Argentine is understood to not be a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans for the new season and that Spanish teams Sevilla and Real Betis are both interested in the player.
Lastly, from Manchester Evening News we learn that Kalvin Phillips is likely to leave Manchester City this month, with Everton, Fulham and newly promoted Ipswich all interested in the English midfielder.
