The Canucks overcame Venezuela in a very balanced match in Arlington after a tense game that finished in a penalty shootout.
After Canada took the lead within the first quarter of an hour through a Jacob Schaffelburg goal, Venezuela equalised in the 65th minute thanks to a great Salomon Rondon goal from range.
Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau saved two spot kicks in the shootout to send his team through to the semi-finals.
