Manchester United Extend ten Hag’s Contract
United have confirmed that manager Erik ten Hag has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until June 2026.
Ten Hag told the club’s official website: “Looking back at the past two years, we can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined.
“However, we must also be clear that there is still lots of hard work ahead to reach the levels expected of Manchester United, which means challenging for English and European titles.
“In my discussions with the club, we have found complete unity in our vision for reaching those goals, and we are all strongly committed to making that journey together.”
Newcastle’s New Sporting Director
After the departure of Dan Ashworth to Manchester United, Newcastle have moved quickly to appoint Paul Mitchell as their new sporting director.
He has occupied the same position at AS Monaco since 2020. Before that he was the head of recruitment at MK Dons, Southampton, Tottenham and RB Leipzig.
He had the following to say about joining the Magpies: “It’s with immense pride that I accept the responsibility of being Newcastle United’s new sporting director.
“I’ve seen the recent growth and ambition of the club. This, plus the amazing fan base, made the decision to join an easy one. I can’t wait to get started and help continue the organisation’s growth and long-term competitiveness in all areas of elite football performance.”
EPL Transfers
Arsenal have signed goalkeeper David Raya on a permanent basis from Brentford. He had spent 2023/24 on loan with the Gunners, becoming their starting keeper, and has now signed a long-term contract The transfer fee stands at £27 million. (Arsenal official announcement)
Everton have completed the signing of Senegalese forward Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille on a five-year deal. He has played in England before, representing Sheffield United. The rumoured transfer fee stands at £16.9 million. (Everton official announcement)
According to Rudy Galetti, Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has reached a verbal agreement with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, but they have not yet opened talks with City. The Premier League champions are understood to be open to selling their Belgian talisman if they receive an acceptable bid, but it is not clear what figure would get them to the negotiations table.
From Sky Sports we learn that Wolves have accepted a £40 million bid from West Ham for defender Max Kilman, as Julen Lopetegui wants a reunion with his former player.
Arsenal have opened talks with Bologna regarding a deal for centre-back Riccardo Calafiori, according to the Daily Mail. At the same time, Corriere dello Sport even says that a £40 million bid has been unsuccessful.
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is reluctant to move to Aston Villa and is rather waiting for a potential new contract offer from the Blues.
Football Insider says that Liverpool will have to pay at least £100 million to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle this summer.
Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari reports that Al-Nassr have agreed personal terms with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
