Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours
Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.
Manchester City Launch Legal Action Against Premier League
City are taking legal action against the Premier League over the rules regarding valuations of sponsorships.
Under the current Associated Party Transaction rules, which regard commercial and sponsorship deals with companies owned or associated with the same club’s owners, each transaction has to be assessed independently as being of “fair market value”.
City feel that the rules are “unlawful” and are seeking damages for revenue lost by preventions made by those rules.
According to Sky Sports News, this matter will be a separate one to the 115 PSR charges levelled at Manchester City.
De Bruyne ‘Open’ to Saudi Move
Kevin De Bruyne has said in an interview with Belgian outlet HLN that he would consider a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.
“At my age you have to be open to everything”, he stated. “You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that.
“If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet.
“Then you have to think about what that could mean next. But at the moment I haven’t had to think about that yet.”
He also takes his family’s wishes into consideration when pondering his future: “These are conversations that we are increasingly having as a family,” added De Bruyne. “I still have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen. My eldest son is now eight years old and knows nothing but England.
“He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the moment comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.”
The Belgian has been on the books at Manchester City for the last 9 years.
Casemiro’s New Venture
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is now a director and shareholder at Marbella FC, a team in Spain’s 4th division.
Casemiro said: ‘It is an honour for me to join Marbella Football Club because my biggest motivation is the spectacular possibilities for growth of the club.
‘I have been to Marbella with my family on several occasions and both my children, my wife and I are in love with this city, with which we want to be connected for life.
‘No doubt, together we will dream big to take Marbella to the highest, but now we have to enjoy our wonderful ascent to Primera.’
Casemiro might be heading for the Old Trafford exit door after a disappointing 2023/24 season for Manchester United.
Isak Not Thinking of Newcastle Departure
As part of media appearances during international duty, Alexander Isak was asked about the speculations linking him to a move away from St. James’ Park.
“I’m enjoying myself very, very well in Newcastle”, he responded. “I had my best season now in my career. That should not be underestimated.
He went on to profess his love for the Magpies: “I love everything really about the club, the fans, the city. I actually have no thoughts of a move or anything like that. I enjoy myself fantastically well and am very happy with my life.”
