FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 30
The international break is over and we are back in the thick of things.
The 2023/24 FPL season is rounding up and managers are looking for a late comeback run to win their mini-leagues and mini-cups, and stand a chance of competing globally with the 11 million registered managers for the current season.
12 teams are returning to action after the blank week 29, six of which are well rested. Chips were expended last time around to help managers adjust to those realities.
Now that everything’s back to normal, here are our best tips for a great week.
Gameweek Analysis
This is the first normal game week in a while, meaning every team will be in action. As stated earlier, six teams have rested enough thanks to the blank game week 29 and many players have returned from injury or regained full fitness.
One such player is Richarlison, who will surely be making his way back into the Tottenham Hotspur starting XI that will face Luton Town in week 30. This is an interesting fixture for FPL managers, as there are many Spurs’ assets they can choose to count upon for returns in this match.
See the full fixture list for the upcoming week below.
Sheffield United vs Fulham is a match to look out for, thanks to the performances of the Cottagers in the last few weeks. Rodrigo Muniz especially stands out as the most in-from striker in the league in this period, with an average of six points per match.
Manchester City vs Arsenal is the match managers will want to avoid, but for the sake of Erling Haaland, many will consider it. The Norwegian is always a goal threat and is the highest goalscorer in the league. This will make him attractive for managers, especially with City’s next lineup being Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Luton Town.
A good balance of players from Newcastle United, West Ham United (both teams face each other), Aston Villa, Chelsea and Fulham alongside other carefully picked players has the highest chance of yielding the most success for FPL managers.
Best FPL Players for Week 30
Cole Palmer (£5.8m) – Chelsea
Chelsea face Burnley in week 30 in a match that will set the tone for the rest of their season.
Burnley are without a clean sheet this year, which makes selecting a Chelsea asset for game week 30 a necessity for FPL managers. What better asset to select than the Blues’ top performer for the season?
Many managers have already brought Cole Palmer into their teams ahead of this clash. The former England U-21 international and Chelsea’s highest-performing player in FPL this season is the second-most transferred-in player ahead of gameweek 30. He is one of the best performers in the league in 2024 as well, with three goals and three assists from seven games played so far this season.
He is a strong pick for many managers because of set-pieces, especially penalties, which the Blues get a lot of this season. At £5.8m, he is also a steal compared to other high-flying midfield assets in the game.
Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) – Liverpool
It is common knowledge, but Mohamed Salah is the only player to constantly break the 250-point tally every year for the past seven years in FPL.
His average per season is 255, which would see him take up six slots for himself in the all-time FPL XI of players with the most FPL points in a season.
This year he has been sidelined with an injury for quite some time but is still the FPL midfielder with the most goal contributions this season (24).
Liverpool face Brighton and Hove Albion in gameweek 30. Salah scored a brace against them in the reverse fixture. Now that he is back to full fitness after a lengthy injury layoff, the Seagulls will surely be his first victims. He is an even bigger threat thanks to him being the team’s primary penalty taker.
We understand, however, that Salah’s price will be a cause for concern for managers who do not have him already. Yet, the hit is worth taking when you consider that Liverpool have Sheffield United and Manchester United next.
Salah is also a top pick among various analysts and analytical tools for the captaincy in gameweek 30.
