FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 25
Week 25 presents FPL players with a good opportunity to catch up to their peers. It is a double gameweek, with four teams playing two games each thanks to fixture discrepancies from earlier in the season.
Smart FPL managers would have set up their teams for gameweek 25 ahead of time by using players from these four teams. However, the happenings of week 24 could also require a shift in tactics.
Let us dive in to see which players can assure the most points.
Gameweek analysis
Manchester City face Chelsea and Brentford in week 25. Many managers already brought in Erling Haaland ahead of week 24 when they faced Everton and it proved to be an astute decision. With Chelsea and Brentford to come, there could be points galore such that the game developers themselves will marvel.
Brentford, one of City’s opponents for week 25, also have Liverpool in the same week. This is a tough schedule for the Bees which could affect their season. Managers will have to be brave to pick players from the West London-based side.
After facing Brentford, Liverpool will also face Luton Town. The Hatters will face Manchester United as well, after taking on the Reds.
From this lineup, the choices that managers have should become clearer as the strategies for amassing points from the week 25 fixtures are drawn up.

As usual, the fixtures of game week 25 are a reverse of fixtures that have happened in a past game week. In this case, it is gameweek 12 whose reverse fixtures make up the coming gameweek.
Chelsea’s last outing with Manchester City delivered one of the games of the season that left many managers stunned and pleased at the same time. Returns from Haaland, Cole Palmer and a few others boosted a lot of managers’ points that gameweek.
Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Tottenham Hotspur in week 12 but Spurs have since picked themselves up. Wolves also lost to Brentford last week and are travelling to Spurs for this clash.
Arsenal players are the hottest property in the FPL market at the moment and the fact that they are facing Burnley makes it all the more important for any right-thinking manager to bring Gunners into their team. They, alongside City players, are the safest to have at the moment.
Many managers should consider taking hits to bring in Arsenal players. This is because they have the highest xG (expected goals) figure among all the teams in the Premier League this season.
Burnley rank high for xGC (expected goals conceded) as well, making this match a potential points goldmine for managers. Newcastle United and Crystal Palace also rank high in the xGC (expected goals conceded) metric, making them a risk for many managers, especially in defence and midfield.
Considering the constraints of the game, a team with a core of the RIGHT Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa players, in addition to Man City and Arsenal players, should yield the most points from this gameweek.
Best FPL players for week 24
Kevin De Bruyne (£10.8m) – Man City
Since returning from his long term injury, Kevin De Bruyne has either scored or assisted in every match he has played in all competitions.
He is currently the league’s most in-form player and he has accumulated more points from the last four league games than other players.
In week 25, he will face Chelsea and Brentford. Having failed to face them in the reverse fixtures due to injury, he will be Pep Guardiola’s secret weapon to ensuring that the Cityzens keep the pressure on Liverpool at the top of the table.
He is more likely to assist than score, however. Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and, to a good extent, Julian Alvarez are great options that De Bruyne can exploit to rack up the numbers and the points that managers need from him.
The only downside to selecting De Bruyne is in defence. With Man City’s recent vulnerability at the back, he could be a risky pick because of clean sheet points.
Erling Haaland (£14.4m) – Manchester City
Erling Haaland is back in his scoring boots after netting both goals against Everton in week 24. With De Bruyne back to full fitness as well, his goal scoring threat has increased.
He scored two goals against Chelsea, one of City’s opponents in week 25, in the reverse fixture. Against Brentford, on February 5th, he was just returning from his injury which meant that he was not match fit. However, he provided the assist for Phil Foden’s hattrick goal which implies that he could do more with enough match fitness.
Now that Haaland is scoring again, Brentford’s Mark Flekken, who has been the best goalkeeper of the last few weeks in the league, will have his hands full.
Haaland is also City’s primary penalty taker which increases his chances of scoring a goal, considering that City tend to get more penalties with him on the pitch.
