EPL Transfer News: Mbeumo, West Ham, Spurs and More
Manchester United’s Pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo
Manchester United continue to press forward in their efforts to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. However, the Red Devils are facing resistance from Brentford, who are holding out for a fee that mirrors United’s earlier acquisition of Matheus Cunha.
United’s opening bid, worth up to £55 million, was rejected, prompting them to return with an improved offer around £60 million. Nevertheless, Brentford are reportedly referencing Cunha’s £62.5 million price tag as the benchmark. The Bees are steadfast in their valuation, arguing that Mbeumo—three months younger than Cunha and with an impressive record—should command an equivalent fee.
Cunha joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers after a season tallying 15 goals and six assists in 33 appearances. Brentford believe Mbeumo’s contribution and potential justify a similar valuation.
Darwin Núñez Keen on Napoli Switch
Darwin Núñez is reportedly eager to join Serie A champions Napoli, according to former Uruguay and Napoli midfielder Walter Gargano. Despite this enthusiasm, a considerable gap remains between Napoli’s offer and Liverpool’s valuation.
The Uruguayan striker, who has fallen out of favour at Anfield following Arne Slot’s appointment, is valued by Liverpool at £59.7 million. Napoli, meanwhile, are only prepared to go as high as £34.1 million. Salary expectations are in the region of £4.3 million.
Nonetheless, reports from Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that Núñez has given Napoli the green light for deeper negotiations. Gargano revealed via Kiss Kiss radio that Núñez is eagerly awaiting a deal, stating: “I told him, ‘Go to Napoli!’… He told me, ‘Yes, I’ll come to Napoli right away. I’m waiting to close with Napoli.’”
Arsenal Make First Move for Christian Nørgaard
Arsenal are making early moves in the transfer market, identifying Brentford’s Christian Nørgaard as a replacement for the outgoing Thomas Partey. After initial links earlier this month, the Gunners have now lodged their first bid.
Danish outlet Bold was first to report the development, and The Athletic later revealed that the opening offer stands at £9.4 million. Brentford’s response to the bid remains to be seen.
Jadon Sancho Attracts Interest from Juventus and Fenerbahçe
Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho remains a hot topic in the transfer rumour mill, with both Juventus and Fenerbahçe expressing interest in the 25-year-old.
According to The Telegraph, José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe have made an enquiry, and the player has been a subject of internal discussion at the Turkish club. Fenerbahçe, who have twice finished runners-up to Galatasaray, are seeking a statement signing.
Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Juventus are “pushing” for Sancho. They have arranged a video call with United officials to assess the feasibility of a deal, especially with the departure of Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula to Nottingham Forest for £20 million.
Liverpool Enter Race for Viktor Gyökeres
Liverpool have reportedly entered the fray for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has also been linked with Arsenal as a potential target.
With Darwin Núñez expected to leave, the Reds are seeking a suitable replacement. However, they are unwilling to meet Sporting’s £68.2 million asking price, according to Correio da Manhã.
Arsenal Eye Chelsea’s Noni Madueke
As they search for cover for Bukayo Saka, Arsenal have initiated negotiations with Chelsea for winger Noni Madueke. According to Tuttomercatoweb, both clubs are open to a deal that would benefit all parties.
Chelsea are reportedly keen to sell to make room for incoming talent, notably Brazilian starlet Estêvão.
Jorrel Hato: Arsenal Confident of Beating Chelsea
In defence, Arsenal remain locked in a transfer tussle with Chelsea over Ajax star Jorrel Hato. The Dutch international, valued at £40 million, is a highly sought-after prospect.
TBR Football claims Arsenal are growing increasingly confident of securing his signature ahead of their London rivals.
Ndidi on the Radar of Everton and Manchester United
Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi is another player drawing significant interest, with both Everton and Manchester United keen on signing the Nigerian midfielder.
As reported by talkSPORT, Ndidi has a relegation release clause set at £9 million, making him an affordable option in the current market.
Ardon Jashari in Manchester United’s Sights
Manchester United are also monitoring Club Brugge midfielder Ardon Jashari. Although AC Milan have already submitted a £25.6 million offer, Calciomercato indicates that the Red Devils are weighing up a rival bid.
The 22-year-old Swiss international is regarded as a rising star, and his versatility in midfield makes him an attractive target for top European clubs.
West Ham Lead Race for Raphael Onyedika
West Ham United are making strides in their pursuit of another Club Brugge midfielder, Raphael Onyedika. According to Sacha Tavolieri, the Hammers are currently leading the race, with Everton also expressing interest in the 24-year-old Nigerian.
Onyedika’s dynamism and ball-winning abilities have caught the eye of several Premier League scouts, and a move to England could be imminent.
Pep Guardiola Eyes Marc-André ter Stegen
Manchester City are reportedly exploring a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. El Nacional states that Pep Guardiola is keen to bring the German international to the Etihad.
Barcelona are believed to be open to offers around £12.8 million, primarily to reduce their wage bill. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have also enquired about the availability of Ter Stegen, according to CaughtOffside.
Jonathan David in Talks with Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur are in negotiations with Lille striker Jonathan David over a potential free transfer. The Canada international has held discussions with Juventus and Napoli, but talks have slowed, paving the way for Spurs to make their move.
Get Italian Football News reports that David could be a cost-effective option to bolster Tottenham’s attacking options.
Aston Villa Under Pressure to Sell
Aston Villa face mounting financial pressure as they race to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). According to Football Insider, the club must raise £30 million through player sales before the end of June.
Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez could be one of the players sacrificed, while Leander Dendoncker, Louie Barry, and Kaine Kesler-Hayden have reportedly been told to find new clubs.
Newcastle United Track César Tárrega
Valencia defender César Tárrega has emerged as a target for Newcastle United. However, according to ElDesmarque, the 23-year-old has no intention of leaving the Spanish club this summer.
Despite Newcastle’s interest, Tárrega appears committed to staying at the Mestalla for now.
