FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 37
We are near the end of the 2024/25 Premier League season. Because of this, every decision needs to be properly scrutinised. These decisions are key to Fantasy Premier League managers gaining or losing rank, and in turn gaining or losing bragging rights among friends.
Week 37, the league season’s penultimate gameweek, runs from Friday to Tuesday. The FA Cup final and the UEFA Europa League final are the reasons for this long gameweek. With this knowledge in mind, we have prepared a strategy for the week and checking these tips for gameweek 37 could be hugely rewarding for you.
Gameweek Analysis
This is what the fixtures list looks like:
- Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur
- Chelsea v Manchester United
- Everton v Southampton
- West Ham United v Nottingham Forest
- Leicester City v Ipswich Town
- Brentford v Fulham
- Arsenal v Newcastle United
- Brighton & Hove Albion v Liverpool
- Crystal Palace v Wolverhampton Wanderers
- Manchester City v AFC Bournemouth
Key Strategy
Arsenal and Newcastle are top four teams chasing glory and a strong finish that ensures their UEFA Champions League participation for 2025/26. Our advice is that both teams should be avoided for gameweek 37, even though assets like Bukayo Saka (£10.3m) are projected to deliver good hauls.
You can double down on matches involving relegated teams and teams in mid-table, either seeking European places or just playing for bragging rights. Every analysis points to these teams’ delivery of significant hauls at the end of gameweek 37.
Best Matches for Asset Selection
After careful consideration of each team’s chances, below are the matches where we believe FPL managers can get good returns from and should consider for asset selection.
Everton v Southampton
This is a shoo-in for Everton, which means players like Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.4m), Beto (£4.8m), Dwight McNeil (£5.1m), Jordan Pickford (£5.1m), and Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.1m) are expected to score some good points. The Toffees are also saying goodbye to Goodison Park, which means they will leave it all on the line. They could be the reason for some managers’ good fortunes this week.
West Ham v Nottingham
West Ham are toughening up. They also have Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and are coming up against a Nottingham Forest side losing their nerves. This should be a tasty fixture, with Anthony Elanga (£5.5m), Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.4m) and Chris Wood (£7.2m) on the other side.
Best FPL Players for Week 37
Jamie Vardy (£5.3m) — Leicester City
Premier League legend Jamie Vardy could be playing his last Premier League home game against Ipswich Town in week 37. Both his team, Leicester City, and Ipswich are already relegated, with nothing to play for but bragging rights. Ipswich has a worse defensive record than Leicester does, and the Foxes have also picked up steam in the last few weeks.
This points to a possible points haul from Leicester assets, especially Vardy, who is always in the thick of things with his eight goals and five assists in the league for them this season. Vardy is also one goal away from 200 goals for the Foxes, which will cement his legacy at the club, where he is already their greatest player ever. Vardy will be a huge differential because he is only owned by 4.7 percent of managers and is relatively cheap.
Kevin Schade (£5.2m) — Brentford
The real winners of week 36 were the 208,505 managers who transferred in Kevin Schade. The German hauled in 11 points after scoring the lone goal against Ipswich Town for his fourth goal in his last three matches. Brentford will be facing Fulham, who themselves are relatively easy to penetrate. Schade’s ownership is lower than that of Bryan Mbeumo (£8.3m) and Yoanne Wissa (£6.8m) as well, which makes him a differential among all Brentford attackers.
Cole Palmer (£10.5m) — Chelsea
Palmer’s dip in form in the second half of the season has been hugely surprising. He has really struggled so much, in fact, that the injured Kai Havertz has a better non-penalty goal ratio than he does. However, he has 15 goals and 10 assists this season, which shows the quality he possesses.
Manchester United are Chelsea’s next opponents, which points to the possibility of hauling points in with Cole Palmer. The Red Devils have nothing to play for in the league and will be all-in for the UEFA Europa League, giving Chelsea the chance to do some significant damage. Based on his low ownership and his set-piece duties, we expect him to be of value for managers in week 37.
