Fulham vs Tottenham Report

Scorers: Muniz 78’, Sessegnon 88’

Fulham bolstered their push for European football with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Craven Cottage, closing the gap to the top four to just four points.

The Cottagers’ late show secured an important three points, while Spurs’ inconsistent form continued as they suffered their first away league defeat in three matches.

Lack of Cutting Edge in Cagey First Half

With Spurs showing signs of fatigue following their midweek European commitments, the early stages of this London derby lacked intensity.

The visitors took 20 minutes to pose a real attacking threat, and when they did, it came through Mathys Tel, who twisted past Timothy Castagne in the box before firing a dangerous low cross across the six-yard area—only for no Spurs player to capitalise.

Castagne was soon involved at the other end, benefiting from Ben Davies’ miscued clearance, but his weak left-footed strike was easily gathered by Guglielmo Vicario.

As the half progressed, Fulham built momentum, but both sides struggled to create meaningful chances in a subdued first 45 minutes.

Substitutions Fail to Spark Spurs as Missed Chances Prove Costly

Ange Postecoglou made half-time changes, introducing Lucas Bergvall and Son Heung-min to inject attacking impetus. Bergvall quickly made an impact, delivering a pinpoint cross for Dominic Solanke, but the striker failed to direct his header on target.

The match’s first golden opportunity arrived in the 69th minute when Bernd Leno produced a superb save to deny Tel’s long-range strike.

The rebound fell kindly for James Maddison, who cushioned the ball perfectly into Solanke’s path, only for the forward to volley over from close range, wasting Spurs’ best chance of the match.

Late Goals Seal Deserved Fulham Win

With the game finely poised, both sides pushed for a winner, and Fulham almost struck through Willian, who curled an effort narrowly wide 15 minutes from time.

However, the breakthrough finally came in the 81st minute, when Andreas Pereira teed up Rodrigo Muniz following a scrappy build-up, and the Brazilian made no mistake, slotting into the bottom corner.

Fulham then sealed victory in spectacular fashion in the 88th minute, courtesy of former Spurs man Ryan Sessegnon.

Just seconds after being introduced, the winger shrugged off Ben Davies, cut inside, and curled a stunning right-footed strike beyond Vicario to end Tottenham’s two-match away winning run in the league.

Fulham Gain Ground as Spurs Stumble

With this victory, Fulham move within four points of the top four, keeping their European qualification hopes alive. Meanwhile, Spurs’ struggles away from home resurface, as they fail to take advantage of results elsewhere in the race to climb back into the top half of the Premier League table.
