Matchday 25 Awards
While we can safely say that the title race is a two-horse affair now, neither of those sides really convinced us this matchday. Arsenal needed a big contribution off the bench to beat Leicester, while leaders Liverpool were certainly not at their best in their home win over Wolves.
Elsewhere, the relegation battle continued with only one point in total being accumulated by the three teams below the dreaded line thanks to Ipswich’s 1-1 draw at Villa Park.
Everton are continuing their climb up the EPL table, Chelsea lost to Brighton for the second time in a week and Manchester City proved that they still have it by running over Newcastle.

But back to the task at hand: who earned our Premier League awards this time? Read on to find out.
Best Player
After their demolition of Newcastle, it’s a City player this week taking the Best Player award: Omar Marmoush.
The Egyptian took the match ball home after a hat-trick that started off in spectacular fashion, with an amazing lob over Martin Dubravka. It was a stunning performance from the January signing who looks like he took to the Premier League like a duck to water.
We are looking forward to more performances like this from him and his City teammates.
Best XI
GK – Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham)
RB – Yankuba Minteh (Brighton)
CB – Calvin Bassey (Fulham)
CB – Gabriel (Arsenal)
LB – Djed Spence (Tottenham)
CM – Ryan Christie (Bournemouth)
CM – Carlos Alcaraz (Everton)
CM – Sasa Lukic (Fulham)
RW – Omar Marmoush (Manchester City)
ST – Beto (Everton)
LW – Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton)
Best Goal
So much competition this week for our Best Goal award… While we’ve already mentioned Marmoush’s first goal against Newcastle, we could have also gone with any of Bournemouth’s three strikes against the Saints, but there can only be one winner.
And that is Kaoru Mitoma for his goal against Chelsea. Not only was the shot unsaveable, but that first touch, just plucking the ball out from the south coast sky was just outstanding.
You can watch it here in all its glory.

Best Game
Crystal Palace vs Everton was, to us, the most entertaining game of the weekend. Sure, there were fixtures with more goals, but the tempo in this one, added to the quality that Everton is showing since Moyes’ return and, in this match, their tenacity and opportunism, all made for very compelling viewing.

Best Stats
Matheus Cunha’s goal against Liverpool was his 16th away from home since the start of last season, only trailing behind Haaland (21), Salah (19) and Isak (17) in this metric.
Liverpool have failed to register a single shot (on target or not) in the second half of their Anfield clash with Wolves. It’s the first time this happens for the Reds since Opta started keeping track of shots in 2003 and, if we were to guess, probably the first time ever too.
Ethan Nwaneri looks like he has started his Arsenal career just how he means to go on. His assist for the Gunners’ opener was his fourth goal involvement in the Premier League. Only three other players have had more before their 18th birthday (Wayne Rooney – 12, Michael Owen – 8 and Cesc Fabregas – 6).
We know that Manchester United’s struggles are not down to only one player, but this is still worth bringing up. Alejandro Garnacho has the lowest conversion rate among EPL players who had 10 or more big chances this season, with 14%. The Argentine only managed 2 goals from 14 big chances.
Best/Worst VAR Decision
Nothing really too good or too bad VAR-related actually took away from the action this weekend, which allows us to not moan and complain about it here for a change.
Best Substitution
This one is really easy this week. Mikel Merino came off the bench in the 69th minute for Arsenal and played in an unfamiliar ‘false 9’ role.
But there was nothing false about his performance. He was on hand to score not once, but twice for the Gunners and make sure that his team stayed within touching distance of league leaders Liverpool.
Funniest Moment
Sure, Tottenham are having their worst season in recent memory, but their fans can take solace in the fact that they don’t support United.
It’s the first time since 1990 that Spurs beat the Red Devils three times in the same season.
That has to count for SOMETHING, right? Right?!
