West Ham vs Fulham Report

Scorers: Soler 31’, Soucek 33’, Paqueta 67’; Iwobi 51’, 78’

Graham Potter celebrated his first Premier League win as West Ham manager, guiding his side to a 3-2 victory over Fulham at the London Stadium.

Despite a valiant effort from the visitors, the Hammers capitalised on defensive errors to end Fulham’s nine-match unbeaten run across all competitions and draw closer to their London rivals in the league table.

First Half: Hammers Pounce on Fulham Mistakes

Fulham started strongly, showcasing the form that has made them one of the Premier League’s best away sides this season.

Within six minutes, Alex Iwobi set up Harry Wilson, who struck the crossbar with a thunderous volley. However, the visitors struggled to convert their early dominance into goals.

The match turned on the 27-minute mark when Carlos Soler’s free-kick was headed home by Max Kilman, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

Moments later, Soler capitalised on a defensive lapse, intercepting Andreas Pereira’s wayward square pass to slot past Bernd Leno and open the scoring.

West Ham doubled their lead just two minutes later with a swift counter-attack. A cross to the back post found Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who expertly squared the ball for Tomáš Souček to finish.

Despite having only two shots on target in the first half, the Hammers headed into the break with a commanding 2-0 lead.

Second Half: Drama and Resilience

Fulham came out firing after the restart and halved the deficit when Iwobi’s curling cross evaded everyone, including Łukasz Fabiański, to find the back of the net.

The momentum seemed to shift in favour of Marco Silva’s men, but another defensive error proved costly. Substitute Danny Ings forced Leno into a mistake, allowing Lucas Paquetá to slot into an empty net and restore West Ham’s two-goal cushion.

Fulham refused to give up and clawed back another goal in similar fashion to their first. Iwobi’s cross caused chaos in the West Ham defence, with Wilson’s dummy allowing the ball to sail past Fabiański.

Fulham pressed for an equaliser, but Adama Traoré squandered a golden opportunity, blazing over from close range in the dying moments.

What’s Next?

West Ham move closer to mid-table safety, while Fulham’s European hopes take a hit as they remain four points ahead of the Hammers. Both teams will look to regroup quickly, with challenging fixtures on the horizon.
