Wolves vs Nottingham Forest Report

Scorers: Gibbs-White 7’, Wood 44’, Awoniyi 90+4’

Nottingham Forest delivered a scintillating counter-attacking display to secure a commanding 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, marking their sixth consecutive Premier League win.

The result propels Forest level with second-placed Arsenal on points, while Wolves remain precariously above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Gibbs-White Silences Molineux

Hoping to extend his unbeaten start as Wolves manager, Vítor Pereira faced a stern test against a high-flying Forest side, and his plans were quickly undone.

Forest opened the scoring in just the seventh minute, with Morgan Gibbs-White playing the role of pantomime villain against his former club. Breaking swiftly on the counter, Gibbs-White combined with Anthony Elanga before firing past José Sá to silence the home crowd.

The early setback spurred Wolves into action, with opportunities falling their way to equalise. Hwang Hee-chan’s surging run into the box created a golden chance for Jørgen Strand Larsen, but the Norwegian failed to convert.

Rodrigo Gomes came close with a stinging volley that Matz Sels brilliantly parried, and Strand Larsen was denied again from close range by the Forest goalkeeper.

Clinical Forest Double Their Lead

Wolves’ profligacy proved costly as Forest struck again on the stroke of halftime. Another lightning-fast counter-attack saw Callum Hudson-Odoi surge into the box before teeing up Chris Wood, who calmly swept home his 12th Premier League goal of the season.

Forest’s 2-0 halftime lead seemed insurmountable given Wolves’ inability to overturn such deficits in recent years.

Resolute Forest Seal Victory in Style

The second half began with Wolves showing greater urgency, but Forest’s defence, marshalled by Nikola Milenković and backed by the assured Sels, stood firm.

The visitors showcased their game management skills, repelling Wolves’ advances while continuing to threaten on the counter. Elliott Anderson came close to adding a third, flashing a shot narrowly wide just past the hour mark.

Deep into stoppage time, Forest delivered the final blow. Substitutes James Ward-Prowse and Taiwo Awoniyi combined, with Awoniyi slotting into an empty net to cap off an emphatic victory.

The Nigerian’s late strike underscored Forest’s clinical edge and completed a performance that epitomised their rise to the league’s upper echelons.

What’s Next?

Forest’s 12th league win of the season takes them to the 40-point mark, level with Arsenal in second place as they continue their remarkable campaign under Nuno Espírito Santo.

Wolves, meanwhile, remain outside the relegation zone on goal difference but face a daunting run of fixtures, leaving new manager Vítor Pereira with a significant challenge to steer his side to safety.
