Aston Villa vs Bournemouth Report

Scorers: Barkley 76’; Evanilson 90+6’

Bournemouth Snatch Last-Gasp Draw Against Aston Villa with Evanilson’s 96th-Minute Equaliser

Bournemouth struck late to secure a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa, ending Villa’s three-game streak of home clean sheets. Evanilson’s stoppage-time goal cancelled out Ross Barkley’s opener, salvaging a point for the Cherries in a dramatic finish at Villa Park.

First Half: Villa Dominate but Fail to Break Through

Fresh off a third consecutive UEFA Champions League win, Aston Villa began with confidence, putting Bournemouth under pressure from the start. Amadou Onana came close with a header from close range, only to be denied by a brilliant save from Mark Travers.

Minutes later, John McGinn appeared to have given Villa the lead, but VAR intervened, ruling out the goal as Ollie Watkins had let the ball go out of play in the buildup.

Bournemouth, grateful for the VAR decision, nearly took the lead themselves. Justin Kluivert tested Emiliano Martinez with a long-range strike, but the Argentine goalkeeper was equal to it.

Villa continued to press forward, with Ezri Konsa’s powerful shot just before halftime again requiring a fine save from Travers to keep the game goalless.

Second Half: Villa’s Pressure Finally Pays Off

The second half saw Villa relentlessly pushing forward. Youri Tielemans’ shot was blocked by Ryan Christie as Villa searched for the opener. Travers continued to be a wall in Bournemouth’s goal, making back-to-back saves to deny Pau Torres and Ollie Watkins.

Villa’s breakthrough finally came in the 85th minute. Leon Bailey’s knock-down found substitute Ross Barkley, who slotted a low shot into the bottom corner to give Villa a deserved lead. With time running out, it looked as though Villa would walk away with all three points.

Stoppage Time Drama: Evanilson’s Equaliser

Bournemouth refused to give up and pushed forward in the dying minutes. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Marcus Tavernier delivered a well-placed free-kick into the box, and Evanilson rose to glance a header into the far corner, sealing a dramatic equaliser and silencing the Villa Park crowd.

Conclusion

Aston Villa dominated much of the match but were unable to close it out, as Bournemouth snatched a point with Evanilson’s dramatic equaliser. Villa’s impressive run of home clean sheets came to an end, while Bournemouth’s resilience earned them a valuable point on the road.
