Premier League Transfer News: Thomas Frank, Martinez, Diomande and More

Tottenham Hotspur Face a Pricey Pursuit of Thomas Frank

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer plans have been thrown into the spotlight following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou on Friday. As the search for a new manager intensifies, Brentford’s Thomas Frank has emerged as a key target—but prying him away will be costly.

The Danish tactician is on a shortlist that also includes Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola. However, The Mirror reports that it would take more than £10 million to secure Frank’s services due to a substantial buy-out clause. With two years left on his current contract and a potential gentleman’s agreement to stay one more season, Brentford hold the cards.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Spurs’ initial approach for Marseille’s Roberto De Zerbi, formerly of Brighton & Hove Albion, was rejected—prompting the club to advance discussions with Brentford instead.

Frank’s journey at Brentford began in 2016 as assistant coach, rising to head coach in 2018 following Dean Smith’s exit. Under his guidance, Brentford secured promotion to the Premier League for the 2021–22 season and have maintained their top-flight status ever since.

Manchester United Consider Emiliano Martínez to Replace Onana

Manchester United’s goalkeeper woes have persisted since the departure of David de Gea in 2023, with André Onana failing to live up to expectations. Despite his distribution and composure with the ball, Onana’s error-prone displays have raised doubts about his long-term future at Old Trafford.

In response, the Red Devils are exploring replacements, with Emiliano Martínez high on their wishlist. The Aston Villa shot-stopper’s uncertain future has opened the door to a potential move, as reported by TyC Sports. United are not alone in their pursuit—Barcelona are also monitoring the situation closely.

Martínez rose to prominence with stellar performances during Arsenal’s 2019–20 FA Cup triumph and later with Argentina, where he played a pivotal role in winning the Copa América titles in 2021 and 2024, as well as the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Although he has yet to achieve significant domestic success, Martínez’s experience and pedigree make him an appealing upgrade in goal for Manchester United.

Arsenal Near Deal for Chelsea Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga

Arsenal’s goalkeeping reshuffle continues, with a surprising twist. Following the end of Neto’s loan spell from Bournemouth, the Gunners initially targeted Espanyol’s Joan García. However, with García likely heading to Barcelona, attention has shifted to Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Athletic revealed that Arsenal have activated a £5 million release clause in Kepa’s contract, with the move nearing completion. Chelsea are eager to offload the world’s most expensive goalkeeper—initially signed for £71.6 million in 2018—before he becomes a free agent next summer.

Kepa has reportedly agreed to compete for minutes at the Emirates, where he would serve as back-up to current No.1 David Raya. Arsenal have been impressed by Kepa’s professionalism and form during his stint at Bournemouth, viewing the deal as a low-risk acquisition.

Premier League Giants Circle Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande

The summer transfer market could see a major tug-of-war over Sporting CP’s highly rated centre-back Ousmane Diomande. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are all considering bids for the 21-year-old talent.

Diomande joined Sporting in January 2023 and flourished under Ruben Amorim, now Manchester United’s manager. With 69 appearances under his belt and a standout season behind him, the Ivorian defender is entering the final two years of his contract.

A BOLA reports that Sporting have set a firm asking price of £50 million and are unwilling to negotiate. In addition to the Premier League heavyweights, Bayern Munich are also rumoured to be preparing an offer.

Crystal Palace have surprisingly entered the fray as well. With Marc Guéhi’s potential exit looming, the Eagles are contemplating a bold move for Diomande as a possible replacement.

Alejandro Garnacho Set for Manchester United Exit

Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close. New manager Ruben Amorim, intent on reshaping the squad after a disappointing season, has reportedly told the Argentine winger to seek a new club.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Garnacho and United have mutually agreed to part ways this summer. While his next destination remains unclear, several Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation. Chelsea, previously linked with the youngster, remain a possibility, while interest has also emerged from Bayer Leverkusen and Serie A.

The Red Devils have placed a £60 million price tag on Garnacho, reflecting both his potential and market value. His dissatisfaction with the campaign was evident, labelling the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur as a “piece of s—”. He was subsequently omitted from United’s final league fixture against Aston Villa.

Conclusion: A Summer of Major Moves Ahead

As the summer transfer window heats up, Premier League clubs are not holding back. Tottenham Hotspur’s managerial shake-up, Manchester United’s hunt for defensive and goalkeeping reinforcements, and Arsenal’s strategic acquisitions paint a picture of high-stakes ambition across the league.

With players like Diomande and Garnacho in the mix and goalkeepers like Martínez and Kepa on the move, the coming weeks promise intrigue, drama, and potentially transformative deals. Keep an eye on these developing stories as the window unfolds.
