Premier League Transfer News: Liverpool, Aston Villa, Chelsea and More

As the summer transfer window heats up, top Premier League clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Arsenal are actively pursuing high-profile signings and offloading players to stay competitive.

As always, EPLNews offers you a comprehensive look at the latest transfer developments across England and Europe.

Liverpool Step Up Pursuit of Hugo Ekitiké Amid Chelsea Competition

Liverpool are seriously in the race for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké, according to reports from Germany. The Reds, fresh from a Premier League title win, are seeking attacking reinforcements after their success without relying on a recognised centre-forward. Darwin Núñez, notably, only started eight of the 38 league games under new manager Arne Slot.

Sky Germany reports that both Slot and Liverpool’s chief executive of football, Michael Edwards, are interested in Ekitiké and have made preliminary inquiries regarding his availability. However, Eintracht Frankfurt have set a steep £83.9 million valuation for the 22-year-old.

To fund the transfer, Liverpool may be forced to part with current squad members such as Núñez—who is attracting interest from Atlético Madrid—and Diogo Jota. The Reds also face serious competition from Chelsea. Journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Chelsea are in “concrete talks” to finalise a deal swiftly, knowing Liverpool are keen to swoop in.

Manchester United Plotting Double Swoop for Mbeumo and Cunha

Manchester United are reportedly pushing forward with plans to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha, according to GIVEMESPORT. In addition, United are monitoring young striker Liam Delap, who may reject Chelsea in favour of a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils appear intent on bolstering their attack with proven Premier League talent, amid a broader squad restructuring effort.

Aston Villa Shift Focus to Brighton’s João Pedro

With a permanent move for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford becoming increasingly unlikely, Aston Villa have redirected their attention to Brighton & Hove Albion’s João Pedro. According to Football Transfers, the Villans are exploring the Brazilian as an alternative attacking option.

Liverpool Reject Cody Gakpo Bid from Bayern Munich

Despite Bayern Munich’s interest, Liverpool have no plans to sell forward Cody Gakpo, as reported by The Mirror. However, the club could reconsider their stance if an offer in the region of £75 million is received.

Chelsea Eye Jamie Gittens While Arsenal Loom

Chelsea continue negotiations for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, with TBR Football stating that a £70 million deal is in the works. Arsenal, however, remain a threat to hijack the transfer, with their long-standing interest yet to be dismissed.

Arsenal’s Zubimendi Deal Delayed Until July

Arsenal’s move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is unlikely to be completed before July 1. As per El Diario Vasco, the delay allows both clubs to register the £51 million transfer in the upcoming financial year—a key aspect of modern football finance.

United Willing to Sell Kobbie Mainoo for PSR Compliance

Football Insider claims that Manchester United are open to selling academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo if their £70 million asking price is met. Offloading the 20-year-old midfielder could significantly aid the club in meeting the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Napoli Target Garnacho as Garnacho Seeks Exit

Napoli are reigniting their interest in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, according to Calciomercato. The 20-year-old has reportedly been told by new manager Ruben Amorim to seek a new club. This development aligns with Napoli’s shift in focus as they edge closer to signing Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

Tottenham Move Closer to Permanent Mathys Tel Deal

Mathys Tel is eager to make his loan move from Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur permanent. According to TBR Football, Spurs hold an option to sign the young forward for a fee of approximately £50 million, following a successful loan stint.

Arsenal Keep Tabs on Mitoma and Gibbs-White

Football Insider reports that Arsenal are continuing to monitor Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma despite concerns about his consistency. Additionally, the Gunners are showing interest in Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, who is also on the radar of Manchester City.

Reijnders Cancels Holiday to Force Manchester City Move

AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is making a determined push to join Manchester City by cancelling his holiday plans, according to TEAMtalk. With the exit of Kevin De Bruyne and uncertainty surrounding the futures of Mateo Kovačić and James McAtee, the Dutchman’s arrival could mark a significant reshuffle in City’s midfield.

Erik ten Hag Targets Brentford Keeper Mark Flekken

New Bayer Leverkusen manager Erik ten Hag is pursuing Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken as his first signing, Sky Germany reports. Flekken, who previously starred for SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga, recorded eight clean sheets for the Bees during the 2024–25 season.

Brentford Approach Liverpool for Caoimhin Kelleher

Anticipating Flekken’s potential exit, Brentford have opened discussions with Liverpool for backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. Sky Sports confirms the talks, signalling a proactive move by the Bees to secure their next No. 1.

Newcastle United Interested in West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus

Football Insider reports that Newcastle United could launch a bid for West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus. With the Hammers finishing 14th in the Premier League, they are open to selling the 24-year-old as part of efforts to comply with PSR regulations.

Barcelona Open Talks for Marcus Rashford

Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has reportedly met with Marcus Rashford’s representatives to discuss a summer move. As per SPORT, Manchester United are seeking around £40 million for the 27-year-old forward, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa.
