Chelsea vs Djurgarden Report
Scorer: Dewsbury-Hall 38’
Chelsea made light work of their UEFA Conference League semi-final second leg, defeating Djurgården 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to seal a 5-1 aggregate win and book their place in the final in Wrocław. Enzo Maresca’s men were comfortable throughout, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s first-half strike ensuring the Blues maintained their winning streak across all competitions.
First Half – Tie Killed Off with Calm Control
Carrying a commanding 4-1 lead from the first leg in Sweden, Maresca opted for a rotated XI, handing a full debut to 16-year-old Reggie Walsh. Despite the changes, Chelsea retained full control of proceedings, dominating the ball while keeping Djurgården at arm’s length.
The home side’s first real threat came via Dewsbury-Hall, whose driven strike forced a save from Jacob Rinne. The Djurgården goalkeeper was soon called into action again to deny Tyrique George, but he could do little to stop Dewsbury-Hall’s pinpoint finish in off the post shortly before the interval.
At the other end, Keita Kosugi’s deflected shot was easily dealt with by Filip Jörgensen, in what was one of the visitors’ few sights of goal in the half.
Second Half – Visitors Improve, but Result Beyond Doubt
To their credit, Djurgården came out with greater urgency after the break, creating a handful of half-chances. Tobias Gulliksen’s long-range effort rolled narrowly wide, while Daniel Stensson forced a fine save from Jörgensen with a dipping shot from distance.
However, Chelsea never looked like relinquishing their control of the tie. The Blues saw out the remainder of the contest without major incident, continuing to dominate possession and managing the game with a maturity that belied their relatively youthful lineup.
Conclusion – Wrocław Awaits for Chelsea
A fifth straight win across all competitions extends Chelsea’s fine form, with their attention now turning to the UEFA Conference League final, where they’ll face either Fiorentina or Real Betis. With UEFA Champions League qualification still within reach domestically, Maresca’s side are on course for a strong finish to the season.
As for Djurgården, this semi-final exit marks the end of an admirable European campaign, the club’s best in continental competition. With their focus now returning to the Allsvenskan, they will hope to close the gap to the league leaders in the weeks ahead.
