Brentford vs Manchester United Report
Scorers: Shaw 27’ (OG), Schade 33’, 70’, Wissa 74’; Mount 14’, Garnacho 82’, Diallo 90+5’
Manchester United’s Premier League woes continued as they fell to a 4-3 defeat against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. Despite briefly leading through Mason Mount’s opener, the Red Devils conceded four goals in a chaotic match that extended their winless league run to six games. For Brentford, the result marks just a second victory in 13 head-to-heads with United and lifts them into the top half of the table.
First Half – Mount Scores but Brentford Hit Back
Brentford started brightly and should have taken the lead inside five minutes. Kevin Schade squandered two clear chances—first missing the target with Altay Bayındır out of position, and then sliding in at the far post only to narrowly miss again.
But against the run of play, Manchester United broke the deadlock with their only shot of the half. Alejandro Garnacho found Mason Mount inside the box, and the midfielder calmly tapped home for just his second United goal—both of which have come against Brentford.
That lead lasted just minutes, though, as the Bees roared back. A long throw-in from Michael Kayode caused chaos in the United box, and Mikkel Damsgaard’s strike took a wicked deflection off Luke Shaw to beat Bayındır. Schade, who had been a persistent threat, then made amends by heading in Christian Nørgaard’s cross at the back post to give Brentford a deserved 2-1 lead heading into the break.
Second Half – Bees Blitz Stuns United
Manchester United came out with more purpose in the second half, with Mount firing two attempts that failed to trouble Mark Flekken. However, Kayode’s long throws continued to create panic in the Red Devils’ defence, and Brentford’s dominance finally told when Schade netted his second of the game—again via a header, this time from Bryan Mbeumo’s pinpoint cross.
Barely moments later, the hosts struck again. A quick attacking move saw Wissa on hand to convert from close range, giving Brentford an unassailable 4-1 lead and leaving United completely shell-shocked.
Late Fightback Falls Short
To their credit, United produced a spirited late response. Garnacho curled a superb strike into the top corner to reduce the deficit, before Amad Diallo added another with a low shot that went through Flekken’s legs. Despite the late drama, it was too little, too late.
