FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 35
As we approach the final stretch of the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League season, it is all about finishing strong.
Managers will currently be operating on the same mindset as the rest of the Premier League after Liverpool were confirmed champions.
All selections will have to be deliberate, chips will have to be deployed and form must be taken advantage of. It is also important that managers remain in control so as not to lose any points due to desperate transfer strategies.
With that being said, here is our analysis of the upcoming gameweek, including our top three picks.
Gameweek Analysis
Normalcy returns to the Premier League in week 35, which means that all teams will be in action from Friday, 2 May to Monday, 5 May, 2025. This is what the fixtures list looks like:
- Manchester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers
- Aston Villa v Fulham
- Everton v Ipswich Town
- Leicester City v Southampton
- Arsenal v AFC Bournemouth
- Brentford v Manchester United
- Brighton and Hove Albion v Newcastle United
- West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur
- Chelsea v Liverpool
- Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest
Key Strategy: When considering teams to select assets from for your Fantasy squad, steer clear of teams in the top five who are facing each other. Teams in this category are Chelsea and Liverpool, which gives you 18 other teams to choose from.
Below are our top picks for games this weekend.
Brentford v Man United
Depending on the outcome of their UEFA Europa League fixture, Ruben Amorim may choose to rotate his squad for Brentford. This makes this match tricky, especially if you have Man United assets in your squad or intend on selecting them based on form.
Leicester v Southampton
Both teams have been relegated and only have bragging rights to play for. This will be an interesting match and one that should produce goals.
Aston Villa v Fulham
This is a very tasty fixture! Both are attacking sides in good form and with defences who are on par with each other.
Best FPL Players for Week 35
Eberechi Eze (£6.9m) — Crystal Palace
Eberechi Eze has sprung to life in recent weeks. As Crystal Palace’s chief creator and a very capable goalscorer, the English midfielder is a great option for managers looking to spend less but get more value.
Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) — Aston Villa
Marcus Rashford (£6.7m) had prevented the striker from starting all of Villa’s last four games, limiting him to just two starts.
Rashford is now, unfortunately, sidelined for weeks according to Unai Emery, which means there is no longer competition for Watkins in Villa’s starting XI. With 15 goals and seven assists this season, Watkins remains a great pick for all squads. He has also scored in all of Villa and Fulham’s last three meetings, making him a premium choice for gameweek 35.
Jordan Pickford (£5.1m) — Everton
As one of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League, Pickford is always a great pick for every FPL squad. What makes him an even better choice for this week is that Everton will be squaring off against Ipswich Town. There is a big chance for save points and clean sheet points to be hauled in by the England number 1. Also, Everton has two matches against already relegated teams (Ipswich included). Clean sheet points are also there to be hauled in and Pickford looks the most likely to supply those points.
