Chelsea vs Everton Report

Scorers: Jackson 27’

Jackson Fires Chelsea to Crucial Victory

Nicolas Jackson’s first-half strike earned Chelsea a vital 1-0 win over Everton, keeping their UEFA Champions League qualification hopes alive and extending their unbeaten home league record against the Toffees to 30 matches. It was a hard-fought evening at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues’ attacking persistence and defensive solidity ultimately got them over the line. Meanwhile, Everton missed a chance to close in on the European spots after back-to-back defeats.

First Half – Jackson Breaks His Drought

Chelsea started on the front foot, aware of the importance of three points, but Beto’s early presence kept Robert Sánchez and his defenders alert. Noni Madueke looked lively from the outset, flashing a dangerous shot that forced Jordan Pickford into a smart save. Moments later, Marc Cucurella missed a golden opportunity after Pickford’s unconvincing punch on a free-kick.

However, Chelsea’s breakthrough wasn’t far away. Trevoh Chalobah robbed Beto and set Enzo Fernández free, who quickly found Jackson. The forward made no mistake, lashing a low shot into the bottom corner to end a long goal drought dating back to mid-December.

Chelsea maintained their pressure for the rest of the half, with Fernández and Madueke both denied further goals, while Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucouré squandered a rare chance for the visitors before the break.

Second Half – Chelsea Hold Firm

After the interval, Chelsea continued to push for a second, with Madueke again testing Pickford after spinning past Vitaliy Mykolenko. A nervy moment for Everton soon followed when Pickford had to scramble to beat Jackson to an underhit backpass from Nathan Patterson. The visitors started to grow into the contest, and Jack Harrison teed up Beto for a fierce drive that Sánchez saved well, before Idrissa Gueye also tested the Chelsea goalkeeper.

Despite Everton’s late rally, Chelsea’s backline stood firm. Pickford continued his heroics, keeping out Madueke’s header and a Cucurella effort from a corner, but the visitors struggled to create clear-cut chances. Jackson thought he had a second late on, only for VAR to intervene and rule the goal out for offside.

What It Means

Chelsea’s back-to-back victories see them climb into fourth place, maintaining serious momentum ahead of a packed fixture list that includes a UEFA Conference League semi-final. With their Champions League qualification hopes boosted, Enzo Maresca’s side will need to stay consistent over the final few weeks. Everton, on the other hand, must regroup after consecutive defeats, but given their opponents’ quality, they remain firmly in the race for a European spot themselves.

Key Facts

  • Chelsea are now unbeaten in 30 consecutive home league matches against Everton.
  • Nicolas Jackson scored his first Premier League goal since mid-December.
  • Everton have suffered three defeats in their last 15 league matches – all against current top-five teams.

What’s Next

Chelsea prepare to face a tough sequence of matches in both domestic and European competitions, while Everton look to bounce back when they host relegation-threatened Ipswich Town next time out.
