Fulham vs Chelsea Report

Scorers: Iwobi 20’; George 83’, Neto 90+3’

Chelsea kept their UEFA Champions League hopes on track with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. Trailing for much of the contest after Alex Iwobi’s first-half strike, the Blues responded with late goals from Tyrique George and Pedro Neto to snatch all three points. The result lifts Chelsea into the Premier League’s top five, while Fulham miss the chance to move into the European places.

First Half: Fulham Strike First as Chelsea Struggle to Respond

Fulham’s impressive home run had given them reason to be confident, and they thought they’d taken an early lead when Andreas Pereira poked home from close range. However, the offside flag and a subsequent VAR check confirmed there were infringements in the build-up.

Just moments later, though, the hosts capitalised on a Chelsea mistake to go ahead. Reece James lost possession to Ryan Sessegnon, who found Alex Iwobi at the edge of the box. The Nigerian midfielder shifted the ball onto his left foot and rifled it into the bottom corner to put Fulham in front.

Chelsea pushed for an equaliser but struggled to create clear chances, despite dominating possession. Fans voiced their frustration as the team went into the break trailing and lacking attacking conviction.

Second Half: George and Neto Lead the Comeback

Enzo Maresca introduced Malo Gusto at the interval, and the right-back was immediately involved in Chelsea’s best opportunity up to that point, setting up Pedro Neto, whose shot was well saved by Bernd Leno.

Chelsea’s attacking momentum increased with time, and their persistence finally paid off. Tyrique George, one of the club’s promising academy products, latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the area and drilled a precise finish into the bottom corner to level the scores.

Now in control, Chelsea surged forward looking for a winner. It came in the closing minutes through Pedro Neto, who showed composure and class by bringing the ball down, spinning in the box, and hammering a shot into the roof of the net to complete the turnaround.

Late Drama and What It Means

The 2-1 win lifts Chelsea into the Premier League’s top five, keeping their UEFA Champions League qualification hopes firmly alive. While defeat isn’t disastrous for Fulham, they missed an opportunity to climb into eighth place – a position that could offer European football next season, depending on the FA Cup outcome.
