Bournemouth vs Fulham Report

Scorers: Semenyo 1’

AFC Bournemouth got their Premier League campaign back on track with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham at the Vitality Stadium, ending a four-game losing streak and climbing above their visitors in the race for European qualification.

Dream Start for the Cherries

The home crowd had barely taken their seats before Bournemouth were ahead. Just 53 seconds in, a sloppy defensive moment from Antonee Robinson gifted possession to the Cherries, and Antoine Semenyo made no mistake, driving into the box and lashing a low shot into the bottom corner to give the hosts a dream start.

Bournemouth nearly doubled their lead within minutes, only to be denied by the woodwork for the 21st time this season – the most of any Premier League side. Milos Kerkez delivered a looping cross to the back post which was nodded down by Alex Scott for Evanilson, but the Brazilian striker’s effort from close range cannoned off the crossbar.

Fulham Grow Into the Game

After weathering an early storm, Fulham slowly found their rhythm and began to threaten the Bournemouth goal. Rodrigo Muniz spurned a couple of half-chances before Alex Iwobi picked out an unmarked Ryan Sessegnon in the box. However, the Fulham winger directed his header straight at Kepa Arrizabalaga, who gratefully clutched the ball.

Bournemouth nearly added a second just before half-time, with Bernd Leno denying Alex Scott at full stretch. The Fulham shot-stopper was called into action again shortly after the break, saving Tyler Adams’ close-range strike to keep his side in the contest.

Late Fulham Pressure Fails to Break Cherries’ Resilience

With Fulham known for their comeback ability this season, Marco Silva’s men pushed forward in search of an equaliser. However, a clerical mix-up led to Ryan Sessegnon being mistakenly substituted – a blow that only added to the Cottagers’ frustration.

Despite that, the introduction of Adama Traoré and Raúl Jiménez injected life into Fulham’s attack, with Kepa forced into a series of key saves to deny Iwobi, Saša Lukić, and substitute Tom Cairney in a late barrage.

Ultimately, Bournemouth held firm, showing grit and organisation to secure their first home league victory of 2025. The result lifted Andoni Iraola’s side to eighth in the Premier League table and ended a poor run that had seen their European hopes fade.

Inconsistent Fulham Slip Up Again

For Fulham, the result was another step backwards in an increasingly inconsistent run of form – they’ve now alternated between wins and defeats for eight consecutive games. Marco Silva will be particularly disappointed with his side’s failure to make their second-half pressure count, as they drop back down to ninth place.
