Wolves vs Tottenham Report

Scorers: Ait Nouri 2’, Spence (OG) 38’, Larsen 64’, Cunha 86’; Tel 59’, Richarlison 85’

Wolverhampton Wanderers took a significant step towards Premier League survival with a 4-2 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur at Molineux, extending their unbeaten head-to-head run against the North Londoners to five matches and earning back-to-back home wins for the first time this season.

Shaky Start for Spurs as Wolves Capitalise

Under increasing pressure, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou endured the worst possible start to the match, with his side conceding inside five minutes. Guglielmo Vicario’s fluffed punch from a free-kick fell to the edge of the area, where Rayan Aït-Nouri’s mishit volley took a bizarre bounce off the turf and looped into the far corner – a moment that perfectly encapsulated Spurs’ early disarray.

The visitors were fortunate not to fall two goals behind shortly after, as Vicario’s shaky clearance gifted Jørgen Strand Larsen a golden opportunity. However, the Wolves forward stumbled at the crucial moment and dragged his shot wide.

Missed Chances Prove Costly for Spurs

Once Tottenham settled into the game, they began to enjoy more possession and posed some attacking threat. Yves Bissouma forced a save from José Sá, and both Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson squandered decent chances to draw level.

Those missed opportunities came back to haunt Spurs in farcical fashion. A deflected cross should have been a routine claim for Vicario, but the Italian shot-stopper inexplicably palmed the ball into the chest of Djed Spence, with the rebound trickling over the line for Wolves’ second.

Tel’s Response Brief as Wolves Restore Control

Tottenham finally found a foothold before the break. Johnson’s delivery from the right found Mathys Tel at the back post, and the young forward made no mistake with a composed finish to halve the deficit.

Yet any hopes of a full Spurs comeback were swiftly dashed by another defensive error. Cristian Romero lost the ball as the last man under pressure from Aït-Nouri, who squared for Strand Larsen to tap into an unguarded net – a reward for Wolves’ relentless pressing.

Cunha Returns to Seal the Deal

Matheus Cunha returned to action following a four-game suspension and nearly made an instant impact with a thunderous strike that whistled narrowly over. Spurs, to their credit, kept pressing and were handed a lifeline when Richarlison found the net to make it 3-2 with under 10 minutes remaining.

But Wolves would have the final say. Cunha, not to be denied on his comeback, finished clinically to restore the two-goal cushion and wrap up the points in style.

Spurs’ Woes Continue as Wolves Close in on Safety

For Spurs, defensive lapses were once again their undoing, with Postecoglou’s side conceding four goals for the second time in four league outings. The defeat adds further pressure to their fading hopes of securing European football next season.

In contrast, Wolves continue to build momentum under Vitor Pereira, climbing further away from the relegation scrap and now within touching distance of mathematical safety. With confidence growing and key players returning, Wolves look well set to finish the campaign strongly.
