Chelsea vs Ipswich Report

Scorers: Tuanzebe (OG) 46’, Sancho 79’; Enciso 19’, Johnson 31’

Chelsea‘s push for UEFA Champions League qualification was slowed down after a 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge, ending their five-game Premier League winning streak at home.

First Half: Ipswich Stun Chelsea With Two Clinical Goals

The Blues controlled the early stages of the match, with Nicolas Jackson hitting the post after latching onto Enzo Fernández’s cross. Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill forced saves from Ipswich keeper Alex Palmer, while Noni Madueke looked especially dangerous.

Despite Chelsea’s dominance, the visitors struck first. Ben Johnson raced down the flank during a rare attack and delivered a perfect ball to Julio Enciso, who swept home a composed finish into the bottom corner. Ipswich struck again just after the 30-minute mark—this time Enciso turned provider, crossing for Johnson to head into the far corner, putting the visitors 2-0 up by halftime.

Second Half: Chelsea Fight Back Through Own Goal and Sancho Stunner

Chelsea responded quickly after the break. Noni Madueke sent a cross into the danger zone, which Axel Tuanzebe accidentally turned into his own net, reducing the deficit. Pedro Neto followed up with a shot, but Alex Palmer was alert to keep it out.

Ipswich continued to look threatening on the counter, with Enciso going close to scoring again, only for Robert Sánchez to collect his effort. Chelsea’s persistence paid off in the closing moments, as substitute Jadon Sancho produced a moment of magic. After receiving a short corner from Cole Palmer, Sancho curled a superb strike into the far corner from outside the box, levelling the score.

Premier League Table Impact: Chelsea Climb, Ipswich Still in Trouble

The result lifts Chelsea to fifth place, moving them into the UEFA Champions League qualification spots. However, the home side will see it as two points dropped against a team battling relegation.

For Ipswich Town, the draw offers some encouragement, but they remain 14 points adrift of safety with only 18 points left to play for. They also missed out on the chance to complete just their second-ever league double over Chelsea.
