Fulham vs Liverpool Report

Scorers: Sessegnon 23’, Iwobi 32’, Muniz 37’; Mac Allister 14’, Diaz 72’

Fulham produced one of their finest performances of the season to come from behind and defeat Premier League leaders Liverpool 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

The win not only snapped a two-game losing streak for the hosts but also marked just their second victory in 16 head-to-heads against the Reds — a statement result in their pursuit of a European spot.

Mac Allister Screamer Gives Reds Early Advantage

Liverpool took the lead with a moment of brilliance in the 14th minute. After Ryan Gravenberch won the ball in midfield, Alexis Mac Allister surged forward and unleashed a thunderous strike from distance that left Bernd Leno with no chance — a stunning goal to cap a promising start for the visitors.

Despite the early setback, Fulham refused to back down and responded just nine minutes later.

A mishandled clearance by Curtis Jones off an Andreas Pereira cross allowed Ryan Sessegnon — making his first Premier League start at Craven Cottage since May 2019 — to slam home the equaliser with composure and precision.

Fulham Turn the Game on Its Head

Liverpool’s defensive woes deepened soon after. A careless square pass by Andrew Robertson was initially bailed out by Ibrahima Konaté, who blocked Alex Iwobi’s shot.

However, in a bizarre sequence, Robertson then headed the rebound straight back into Iwobi’s path and inadvertently deflected his shot past Caoimhín Kelleher to hand Fulham the lead.

The Cottagers weren’t done. On 43 minutes, Rodrigo Muniz showed great strength to hold off Virgil van Dijk, control Iwobi’s lofted ball, and finish clinically through Kelleher’s legs — a goal that capped an electric first half for Marco Silva’s side, who headed into the break 3-1 up.

Liverpool Rally, but Fulham Hold Firm

With their title credentials on the line, Arne Slot’s Liverpool came out with renewed purpose in the second half. Bernd Leno had to be sharp to deny Diogo Jota, while Dominik Szoboszlai dragged an effort just wide.

Slot turned to his bench, introducing Conor Bradley and Luis Díaz, a change that yielded immediate impact. Bradley surged forward on a counterattack and squared for Díaz, who confidently tucked home Liverpool’s second to set up a tense finale.

The Reds pushed hard for an equaliser, with Harvey Elliott rattling the crossbar and both he and Federico Chiesa forcing saves from the inspired Leno. But Fulham held firm in the closing stages, defending resolutely to protect their precious lead.

What It Means

  • Fulham: This statement victory lifts the Cottagers firmly back into the European conversation. With just a handful of matches remaining, Marco Silva’s men are peaking at a crucial time, and this performance will serve as a huge morale boost.
  • Liverpool: Another damaging defeat — their third in four across all competitions — puts a dent in their title push. Although they remain in the hunt for top honours, Arne Slot will be concerned by his side’s recent defensive frailties and inconsistency.
