FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 27
Gameweek 27 is the last game week of the 2024/25 Premier League season before another domestic break which will lead to some blank gameweeks. Also, its deadline comes barely 48 hours after gameweek 26 ended.
Thanks to the gift of foresight and data (stats), most Fantasy Premier League managers already have the heavy hitters like Mohamed Salah in their teams. And so, if you are coming across this, the reason for the following analysis remains to ensure that you build the best FPL team around the heavy hitters you probably already own by now.
Gameweek Analysis
Differentials
Owning players with less than 10 percent ownership in the game is risky for all the right reasons. However, this is a tried and true FPL tactic which has stood the test of time and has provided enough value for many managers in the game’s history.
Ahead of week 27, we believe that the following players are the best differential picks.
Jarrod Bowen (£7.3m)
West Ham United’s most important player is owned by less than four percent of FPL managers due to the poor form of the Hammers. However, he has been able to rack up a decent 13 G/A for the East London club, which is almost 50 percent of their total goals scored in the season.
At £7.3m, he is not exactly a cheap differential, but the fact that the Hammers face Leicester City in week 27 and will be in action in week 29 where Crystal Palace, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Aston Villa will blank makes his selection a viable one.
Pedro Neto (£6.2m)
The Portugal forward will face Southampton with Chelsea in week 27 and will most likely have the opportunity to start again. He created Chelsea’s goal in their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in week 26 while having four shots.
In the absence of Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke, he should get more opportunities to face the league’s worst team. Also, he is owned by less than one percent of FPL managers and can be an option for blank week 29.
Best Value Games in Week 26
Manchester United vs Ipswich Town
One cannot fully trust Manchester United to deliver these days, but their chances of providing FPL returns against Ipswich Town is higher than against their most recent opponents.
Players to target: Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m), Liam Delap (£5.6m), Leif Davis (£4.3m), Patrick Dorgu (£4.5m).
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Fulham
Fulham disappointed many last game week by blanking against Crystal Palace, just as Wolves shocked many by defeating AFC Bournemouth. Now, both teams face each other in a match that is more mental than physical or even tactical.
Players to target: Matheus Cunha (£6.9m), Nelson Semedo (£4.5m), Antonee Robinson (£5.1m), Emile Smith-Rowe (£5.0m), Raúl Jiménez (£5.6m).
Best FPL Players for Week 26
Kaoru Mitoma (£6.4m) — Brighton and Hove Albion
Kaoru Mitoma is currently picking up steam and it is time to milk the most value out of him. Brighton will face Bournemouth in week 27, then go on to face Fulham in week 28 before resting in week 29.
Both teams concede a fair amount of chances and, with the Seagulls’ most recent form, you can count on the Japan national team player to produce attacking returns against either side.
Cole Palmer (£11.1m) — Chelsea
He may not have delivered in some time but Chelsea are coming up against Southampton in week 27. Cole Palmer has proven to be the only player with the same potential to grab double digit hauls in the Premier League like Salah (he has eight, only behind the Egyptian) and this means that he is the best pick for week 27.
We dare say he should get the armband ahead of Salah this week as well, because Liverpool will be coming up against Newcastle United who will prove difficult to break down, even for Salah.
Beto (£5.0m) — Everton
The arrival of the Portugal-born Guinea-Bissau striker to Everton was comedic thanks to his statement which urged the Goodison Park faithful to not expect much of him. Since David Moyes took over the club, however, he has become one of their best players.
The Toffees are currently in a rich vein of form and Beto is the man at the forefront. With Brentford in their path in week 27, as well as Wolves and West Ham in weeks 28 and 29, now is the best time to bring in the Everton forward. 35 points in the last four games is hard to ignore, after all.
