FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 24
This week’s Premier League action will be fuelled by the results of the midweek UEFA competition action. This means that managers will either be desperate to win their matches to raise squad morale because they failed in midweek or to win because they need to keep the momentum going.
This further implies that Fantasy Premier League managers will have to pay special attention to the emotions of managers and players more than their match’s FDR (Fixture Difficulty Ratings) position in selecting their gameweek 24 squads.
More importantly, gameweek 24 is a double one for Liverpool and Everton.
Let us now take a look at the gameweek to chart the best course of action for our squads.
Gameweek Analysis
New chip alert: Assistant Manager Chip
Before we analyse the upcoming gameweek, it is important that fans know that the mystery chip has now been revealed to be the Assistant Manager Chip.
The game developers created this chip to help FPL managers earn as much as 16 points in addition to their haul from any gameweek in which the chip is active.
When activated, FPL managers can sign an actual Premier League manager for prices ranging from £0.5m to £1.5m to be their assistant manager. A win or draw by the manager earns them points in addition to the regular points which the regular FPL squad adds to the FPL manager’s weekly haul.
Take note that the Assistant Manager Chip lasts for three consecutive gameweeks and renders all other chips inactive for those three gameweeks once it is activated, which means that managers have to be deliberate in using the chip.
You can read more about the new chip in our dedicated article.
Best Value Games in Week 24
Liverpool and Everton’s matches in gameweek 24 are our picks for the games where we expect the most value to come from. This is because of the various chip strategies that can be applied on these teams.
First is the newly-launched Assistant Manager chip, which gives FPL managers the option of signing Arne Slot or David Moyes for four games, inadvertently increasing their chances of earning more than 16 points. Next is the Triple Captain chip, which many managers will surely be using on Mohamed Salah and next is the Bench Boost chip which guarantees that any points scored by assets from Liverpool, Everton or their opponents on the bench contribute to the weekly haul for managers.
In terms of assets, however, FPL managers must realise that Liverpool will be facing AFC Bournemouth, then Everton in the double gameweek 24. Both teams are currently the hottest they have ever been in the 2024/25 season and Liverpool, though they lead the league, are the most vulnerable they have been.
Picking Everton assets also guarantees double gameweek points as the Toffees are going to play Leicester City before Liverpool.
Players to target: Antoine Semenyo (£5.6m), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.4m), Iliman Ndiaye (£5.5m), Jordan Pickford (£5.1m), Alisson Becker (£5.5m), Justin Kluivert (£5.7m), Marcus Tavernier (£5.4m), Luis Diaz (£7.5m), Cody Gakpo (£7.6m), Mohamed Salah (£13.7m).
Best FPL Players for Week 24
Chris Wood (£7.1m) — Nottingham Forest
Nuno Espirito Santo watched as his selection was useless against Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side last weekend, but now his Forest team have the pleasure of facing Brighton and Hove Albion. While not an easy game, we expect it to be more open. Chris Wood signed a contract extension with the Tricky Trees recently and is raring to prove them right for trusting in him. At £7.1m, Chris Wood is a great choice for every FPL squad this week.
Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) — Aston Villa
Luckily for Ollie Watkins, he has a lot of credit in the bank, which is why his FPL price tag is still this high and he is owned by quite a few managers despite Villa’s struggles in recent weeks.
He remains their chief source for goals and assists, however and with Wolverhampton Wanderers in their sights, this is probably the best time to bring him into your Fantasy Premier League squad.
Liam Delap (£5.6m) — Ipswich Town
Ipswich Town face Southampton and Aston Villa back to back in weeks 24 and 25. Picking Liam Delap as a differential or a starter is a no-brainer because both teams are bad at defending—Southampton especially, whose defensive record has all but confirmed their relegation from the Premier League. Delap is also a cheap option in case managers are looking to spend on Liverpool assets thanks to the double gameweek fixtures.
