Arsenal vs Tottenham Report

Scorers: Solanke (OG) 40’, Trossard 44’; Son 25’

Arsenal came from behind to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, moving into second place in the Premier League and completing their fifth double over their rivals in the competition.

Goals from Gabriel Magalhães and Leandro Trossard overturned Son Heung-min’s opener as the Gunners revived their title hopes while piling more misery on struggling Spurs.

First Half: Dramatic Turnaround for Arsenal

The Gunners entered the match under scrutiny following back-to-back cup defeats to Newcastle United and Manchester United, but started brightly.

Radu Drăgușin’s crucial block denied Leandro Trossard early on, while Tottenham debutant Antonín Kinský had a nervy moment when Kai Havertz intercepted his clearance, only for the Czech keeper to recover in time.

Tottenham weathered the early storm and grew into the contest, with David Raya forced to save Dejan Kulusevski’s shot.

Spurs capitalised on their momentum in the 22nd minute when Son Heung-min volleyed home from a corner, with a deflection wrong-footing Raya. The goal stunned the Emirates and briefly put Tottenham in control.

However, Arsenal responded emphatically. Gabriel Magalhães powered in a header from Declan Rice’s corner, his effort deflecting off Dominic Solanke to leave Kinský helpless.

Just before halftime, Arsenal completed the turnaround as Leandro Trossard’s angled strike squirmed through Kinský’s grasp, nestling in the far corner and sending the home crowd into raptures.

Second Half: Arsenal Hold Firm

Arsenal pushed to extend their lead after the break but were wasteful in front of goal. Kai Havertz missed a golden chance, heading wide from Martin Ødegaard’s corner before firing tamely at Kinský.

Declan Rice and Ødegaard also came close, but the Gunners failed to capitalise on Spurs’ defensive frailties.

Tottenham showed glimpses of fight but lacked the cutting edge to trouble Arsenal’s well-drilled defence. With time ticking down, Ange Postecoglou’s men appeared resigned to their fate, as Arsenal comfortably saw out the game to claim a vital three points.

What’s Next?

Arsenal will look to build on this momentum as they continue to chase Liverpool at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Tottenham face increasing pressure to turn their season around, with just one win in their last nine league games leaving them languishing in the bottom half.
