Bristol City vs Wolves FA Cup Report

Scorers: Twine 45+1’; Ait-Nouri 10’, Gomes 21’

Wolves overcame a spirited Bristol City side at Ashton Gate to secure a 2-1 victory and advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Goals from Rayan Aït-Nouri and Rodrigo Gomes in the first half proved decisive, despite Scott Twine’s stunning free-kick giving the hosts hope just before the break.

First Half: Wolves Dominate Early

Wolves, revitalised under Vítor Pereira’s management, started the match brightly. Their intent was rewarded in the 10th minute when Rayan Aït-Nouri capitalised on a well-worked move to fire the visitors ahead.

Continuing to dominate proceedings, Wolves doubled their advantage midway through the first half. Rodrigo Gomes finished off a flowing team attack, putting the visitors firmly in control and silencing the Ashton Gate crowd.

However, Bristol City refused to capitulate. As the first half drew to a close, Scott Twine produced a moment of brilliance with a pinpoint free-kick to cut the deficit to 2-1, reigniting the home side’s hopes.

Second Half: Wolves Hold Firm

The second half saw Bristol City push for an equaliser, but Wolves’ defence remained resolute. Twine continued to pose a threat for the hosts, while Wolves relied on disciplined defending and occasional counter-attacks to maintain their lead.

Despite the Robins’ spirited efforts, Wolves saw out the game to secure their place in the next round, further demonstrating the impact of Pereira’s tactical adjustments since his arrival.
