Everton vs Nottingham Forest Report

Scorers: Wood 15’, Gibbs-White 61’

Nottingham Forest continued their remarkable Premier League campaign with a commanding 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park, securing a fifth consecutive league win for the first time in their top-flight history.

The result lifted the Tricky Trees into second place, while Everton’s attacking woes persisted in front of an increasingly frustrated home crowd.

First Half: Wood Breaks the Deadlock

A scrappy opening saw both sides struggling to find rhythm, but Forest capitalised on the first real moment of quality in the 23rd minute.

Chris Wood and Anthony Elanga combined expertly with a series of headed passes inside the box, before Wood deftly lifted the ball over Jordan Pickford to give Forest the lead.

Everton, buoyed by a recent uptick in form under Sean Dyche, worked hard in response but lacked the cutting edge required to trouble Matz Sels.

Armando Broja, making his full debut, struggled to assert himself in a toothless first-half attack for the hosts, who were restricted to speculative efforts and misplaced passes.

Second Half: Forest in Control

Seeking a spark, Dyche introduced Jesper Lindstrøm at halftime, but the Toffees continued to struggle in possession, allowing Forest to execute their counter-attacking game plan to perfection.

A costly turnover by Abdoulaye Doucouré in midfield saw Chris Wood turn provider, laying off for Morgan Gibbs-White, who curled a precise effort beyond Pickford in the 54th minute to double Forest’s advantage.

The visitors could have added to their tally shortly afterward, but Pickford produced a series of impressive close-range saves to deny Ramón Sosa and Neco Williams in quick succession.

Everton’s inability to generate meaningful opportunities left the home side reliant on half-chances, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s tame shot in the 81st minute marking their first effort on target.

What This Means

  • Nottingham Forest: Nuno Espírito Santo’s men continue their sensational form, climbing into second place and cementing their status as one of the league’s surprise packages this season.
  • Everton: Dyche’s side remains 14th, with just one goal in their last four matches raising concerns over their lack of firepower despite an improved defensive structure.

Next Fixtures

  • Everton: Travel to Fulham, seeking to address their attacking struggles.
  • Nottingham Forest: Host Crystal Palace as they aim to extend their historic unbeaten run.

Forest’s fairy-tale rise under Nuno shows no signs of slowing, while Everton must find solutions to their offensive woes to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
