Brentford vs Nottingham Forest Report

Scorers: Aina 38’, Elanga 51’

Nottingham Forest delivered a composed and clinical display at the Gtech Community Stadium to hand Brentford their first home defeat of the season.

This result guarantees Forest a top-four place at Christmas, an impressive achievement for Steve Cooper’s side in their second season back in the Premier League.

First Half: Forest Strike Against the Run of Play

Brentford started brightly, buoyed by their imperious home form, with Mikkel Damsgaard forcing Matz Sels into an early save.

However, Forest grew into the game as the half progressed. Their patience paid off in the 38th minute when Neco Williams found Ola Aina, whose precise first-time finish broke the deadlock. It marked the first time Forest had led at half-time in an away league game this season.

Second Half: Elanga Punishes Defensive Lapse

Forest doubled their lead just six minutes after the restart, capitalizing on a costly error by Keane Lewis-Potter. Anthony Elanga, sharp and opportunistic, dispossessed the Brentford midfielder, drove into the box, and coolly slotted past Mark Flekken.

Brentford tried to mount a response, with Kristoffer Ajer coming close just after the hour mark, but his powerful strike was brilliantly denied by Sels. Despite their best efforts, the Bees couldn’t find a way past Forest’s well-organized backline.

What’s Next?

Nottingham Forest move up to third in the table, a testament to their remarkable form and strong defensive displays. With confidence brimming, they’ll aim to maintain momentum as the season enters a busy festive period.

For Brentford, this result is a wake-up call, ending their unbeaten home run. Dropping to 12th, they’ll need to regroup quickly and address their vulnerabilities as they look to regain their early-season form.

Match Stats

  • Possession: Brentford 58% – 42% Nottingham Forest
  • Shots on Target: Brentford 4 – 5 Nottingham Forest
  • Corners: Brentford 6 – 3 Nottingham Forest

Forest’s rise continues, while Brentford face the challenge of bouncing back from an uncharacteristic home defeat.
