West Ham vs Arsenal Report

Scorers: Wan-Bissaka 38’, Emerson 40’; Gabriel 10’, Trossard 27’, Odegaard 34’ (P), Havertz 36’, Saka 45+5’ (P)

Arsenal delivered a dominant first-half performance to secure a 5-2 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium, with five different players scoring for the Gunners. The win moves Arsenal to second in the Premier League (PL) table, continuing their strong domestic and European campaigns.

Arsenal’s Explosive First Half

West Ham entered the match with a solid home record, having collected seven points from their last three league games. However, Arsenal wasted no time asserting their dominance. Within 10 minutes, Gabriel Magalhães headed in Bukayo Saka’s perfectly placed corner, giving Arsenal an early lead.

The Gunners continued to pile on the pressure, with Saka coming close to doubling the lead before combining with Martin Ødegaard to devastating effect. A clever interplay between the pair released Saka, who squared the ball to Leandro Trossard for an easy tap-in to make it 2-0 after 27 minutes.

Arsenal’s momentum surged further after Lucas Paquetá conceded a penalty with a clumsy challenge. Saka, the usual penalty-taker, handed the opportunity to Ødegaard, who converted from the spot. Just minutes later, Max Kilman failed to intercept, allowing Kai Havertz to calmly slot in Arsenal’s fourth goal.

West Ham’s Spirited Response

Despite being 4-0 down, West Ham showed resilience. Carlos Soler’s exquisite through ball set up Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who scored his second goal in as many games. Moments later, Emerson Palmieri delivered a stunning free-kick that rattled the underside of the crossbar to make it 4-2, reigniting hope for the hosts.

However, Arsenal regained control before halftime. A Łukasz Fabiański punch caught Gabriel Magalhães, and Saka stepped up this time to convert from the penalty spot, restoring Arsenal’s three-goal cushion at 5-2 just before the break.

Controlled Second Half from Arsenal

The second half lacked the frantic energy of the first, as Arsenal focused on maintaining their lead. Tomáš Souček’s diving header was easily handled by David Raya, while Raheem Sterling’s late free-kick and substitute Danny Ings’ off-balance effort were the closest either side came to adding to the scoreline.

Arsenal Rise to Second, West Ham Struggle in the Table

Arsenal’s commanding victory follows their midweek UEFA Champions League triumph over Sporting CP, showcasing their consistency across competitions. The win moves Mikel Arteta’s side to second place in the Premier League table, further solidifying their title ambitions.

For West Ham, the loss leaves them in 14th place, just six points clear of the relegation zone. Under-fire manager Julen Lopetegui, watching from the stands, will face increased pressure as the Hammers struggle to find consistency.

Conclusion: Arsenal’s Depth Shines, West Ham Left Searching for Answers

Arsenal’s comprehensive 5-2 win over West Ham underscores their attacking depth and tactical fluidity, with five different players finding the net. Meanwhile, West Ham will need to regroup quickly to avoid being dragged further into the relegation battle.
