Ipswich vs Everton Report

Scorers: Ndiaye 17’, Keane 40’

Everton Secure First Away Win of the Season with 2-0 Victory Over Ipswich Town

Clinical first-half goals from Iliman Ndiaye and Michael Keane handed Everton their first Premier League away win since December 2023, as they defeated struggling Ipswich Town 2-0 at Portman Road.

Ipswich’s Early Miss and Defensive Struggles

Ipswich Town, still searching for their first PL win of the season, started brightly and almost took the lead inside the first five minutes. A well-executed breakaway saw Wes Burns and Liam Delap combine before Jack Clarke squandered a promising opportunity, ballooning his shot wide from a dangerous position. However, Ipswich’s familiar frailty at the back once again proved costly.

Their tendency to invite pressure allowed Everton to seize control, and Sean Dyche’s side capitalised on Ipswich’s failure to clear their lines. Burns was unable to clear the ball to safety, and Iliman Ndiaye reacted quickly to rifle a powerful shot into the top of the net, giving Everton the lead.

Everton Double Their Advantage Through Keane

Despite taking the lead, Everton were briefly under pressure when VAR overturned a penalty decision awarded by Michael Oliver after Clarke went to ground.

The reprieve allowed Everton to regain their composure, and they soon doubled their lead just five minutes before halftime. Dwight McNeil, after weaving through the Ipswich defence, delivered a clever reverse pass that found Michael Keane, who smashed in an unstoppable near-post finish, securing a 2-0 advantage for the Toffees.

Ipswich Struggle to Respond

Everton’s two-goal cushion appeared secure as they comfortably controlled the game, while Ipswich struggled to create meaningful chances. Liam Delap attempted to inspire his side with a driven effort that swerved narrowly wide of the post, but the young striker’s chance was one of few for the hosts.

Despite a renewed attacking push in the final 15 minutes, Ipswich’s attempts were continually thwarted by a resolute Everton defence.

Everton’s Resurgence and Ipswich’s Unwanted Record

With this victory, Everton extended their unbeaten run to four matches and recorded back-to-back clean sheets, propelling themselves toward mid-table. On the other hand, Ipswich’s winless run continued, as Kieran McKenna’s side set an unwanted club record of eight winless games at the start of a top-flight season.

Conclusion

Everton’s 2-0 win at Portman Road marks a significant improvement under Sean Dyche, with Iliman Ndiaye and Michael Keane’s goals ensuring the Toffees secured their first away victory of the season.

Ipswich Town, however, will be left frustrated as their struggles in the Premier League persist, with defensive errors continuing to undermine their efforts to claim their first win.
