West Ham vs Chelsea Report

Scorers: Jackson 4’, 18’, Palmer 47’

Jackson and Palmer Fire Chelsea to 3-0 Victory Over West Ham

Jackson struck twice in the first half, while Cole Palmer sealed the deal as Chelsea secured a dominant 3-0 victory over West Ham United, marking their third win in five Premier League games under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Jackson’s Brace Puts Chelsea in Control

Jackson delivered a timely brace, reinforcing why he remains Chelsea’s first-choice striker despite calls for Christopher Nkunku to start following his match-winning performance against Bournemouth last weekend. Chosen to lead the line by Maresca, Jackson rewarded the manager’s faith with two well-taken goals, giving Chelsea a commanding lead before halftime.

The 23-year-old Senegalese striker, who recently signed a contract extension that keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2033, has been in excellent form at the start of this season. With four goals in six games across all competitions, Jackson is quickly proving his worth after an inconsistent debut campaign in which he netted 17 times but missed several key opportunities.

Chelsea’s Strong Start Under Maresca

Chelsea’s impressive form continues, with three away wins in their first five Premier League matches this season. Their only loss came against defending champions Manchester City. Despite reported behind-the-scenes power struggles between co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, Maresca has made a strong impression since replacing Mauricio Pochettino, giving fans hope that Chelsea can once again challenge for a top-four finish after two disappointing seasons.

West Ham’s Struggles Continue

West Ham, on the other hand, are off to a poor start under new manager Julen Lopetegui. The Hammers have managed just one win in five Premier League games and have lost three consecutive home matches to start the season—a first in their league history. The frustration of the fans was evident, with some jeering the team and leaving the stadium before the final whistle.

West Ham’s attack was lacklustre, with Jarrod Bowen’s off-target shot from a promising position summing up their sluggish start. Crysencio Summerville, making his first Premier League start for West Ham, appealed for a penalty after Wesley Fofana’s challenge, but VAR denied his claims. Lopetegui’s frustration was evident as he substituted Argentina midfielder Guido Rodríguez before halftime, but Rodríguez’s replacement, Thomas Soucek, could only fire straight at Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez.

Palmer Wraps Up the Win

After the break, Chelsea showed no signs of slowing down. Cole Palmer, who had been lively throughout the match, added a third goal just two minutes into the second half. The England forward received a pass from Jackson and slotted the ball past Areola from a tight angle, putting the game beyond West Ham’s reach.

Sancho, making his first Premier League start since May 2023 following his loan from Manchester United, was a constant threat with his dribbling and creativity. Although he didn’t get on the scoresheet, his performance was a positive sign for Chelsea as they continue to build under Maresca.

Conclusion

Chelsea’s 3-0 win over West Ham United solidifies their strong start under Enzo Maresca, with Jackson’s brace and Palmer’s goal securing a comfortable victory. The Blues remain in contention for a top-four finish, while West Ham’s struggles continue under Julen Lopetegui.

As the season progresses, Maresca’s Chelsea look set to build on their early success, while West Ham will need to find solutions quickly to avoid falling further behind.
