Fulham vs Newcastle Report

Scorers: Jimenez 5’, Smith-Rowe 22’, Nelson 90+2’; Barnes 46’

In an entertaining clash at Craven Cottage, Fulham secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Newcastle United, with goals from Raúl Jiménez, Emile Smith Rowe, and Reiss Nelson proving too much for the visitors to handle.

First Half

Fulham got off to a strong start, with Raúl Jiménez finding the back of the net in just the 5th minute. The Mexican striker pounced on a well-placed cross from Adama Traoré, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner.

Newcastle struggled to gain a foothold early on, and Fulham’s fast-paced attack continued to press their defence.

In the 22nd minute, Emile Smith Rowe doubled Fulham’s lead. The midfielder latched onto a perfect assist from Alex Iwobi, driving a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner. Newcastle attempted to respond, but their efforts were thwarted by a resilient Fulham defence. The half ended with the hosts comfortably in front, 2-0.

Second Half

Newcastle came out of the break with renewed intent, and they got back into the game immediately. Harvey Barnes scored a brilliant solo goal just seconds after kickoff, driving into the box and beating the keeper with a precise shot to the bottom right corner, assisted by Jacob Murphy.

Despite Newcastle’s pressure, Fulham maintained their composure, and the game saw plenty of back-and-forth action. Barnes came close to doubling his tally in the 88th minute, but his header missed the target. Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, who was subbed on for Raúl Jiménez, also came close, but his 90th-minute shot was saved by Nick Pope.

Late Drama

The game was put to bed in stoppage time when Fulham’s Reiss Nelson netted their third goal. Nelson capitalised on a pass from Muniz, calmly finishing from the center of the box in the 92nd minute. Newcastle goalkeeper Bernd Leno was shown a yellow card shortly after, but by then, the damage was done. The referee blew the final whistle, confirming Fulham’s impressive 3-1 victory.

Key Moments

  • 5th Minute: Raúl Jiménez opens the scoring for Fulham with a calm finish from the centre of the box, assisted by Adama Traoré.
  • 22nd Minute: Emile Smith Rowe doubles Fulham’s lead with a composed shot into the bottom corner.
  • 46th Minute: Harvey Barnes pulls one back for Newcastle, slotting into the bottom corner from the left side of the box.
  • 90+2 Minute: Reiss Nelson seals the win for Fulham with a clinical strike from the centre of the box, assisted by Rodrigo Muniz.

Conclusion

This victory moves Fulham up the table, with their attacking trio of Jiménez, Smith Rowe, and Nelson proving decisive. Newcastle will be disappointed with the result, especially after their bright start to the second half, but they’ll need to regroup quickly ahead of their next fixture.
