EPL Stats from Saturday’s Games
With eight games taking place yesterday, including some surprising results (we’re looking at you, Liverpool vs Forest), today we take a look at some of the best Premier League stats from those games.

Firstly, it wouldn’t be a Prem weekend in 2024/25 without Erling Haaland breaking some sort of record. He registered a brace in their come-from-behind win against Brentford, bringing his tally up to nine goals in four EPL games this season. This is officially the best start over four games for a Prem player, with Rooney’s previous record of eight strikes now in the Norwegian’s rearview mirror.
From Haaland’s successes, let’s now go to the opposite end of the spectrum. Southampton summer signing Ben Brereton Diaz has set a new record for most appearances in a row without being on the winning side. This streak is 18 games long after the Saints’ home loss against United and it includes 11 losses in a row now. Naturally this includes the Chilean’s loan spell with Sheffield United last season. He will have a chance to break this unfortunate series next weekend when Southampton welcome Ipswich Town.
Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 triumph over Liverpool was their first win at Anfield in 55 years, thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi’s beautiful strike off the inside of the post.
The second of Manchester City’s goals was laid on by goalkeeper Ederson, bringing up his Premier League tally of assists to four. This is one more than Manchester United’s Antony (3).
Aston Villa condemned Everton to consecutive collapses from 2-0 up by coming from behind to win 3-2 at Villa Park. Although Ollie Watkins broke his duck of a scoreless start to the season with a brace, it was Jhon Duran who grabbed most of the headlines with a sublime goal from 35 yards out. This strike means that, out of his eight EPL goals for Villa, seven were scored as he came off the bench.
We started the article with Haaland and we’re ending with him. The game against Brentford was his 50th in all competitions for City at the Etihad Stadium. In these 50 appearances he has directly contributed to 70 goals, either by scoring or assisting. Quite efficient, we would dare say.
